In the summer of 2002, I started an alternative troops to teacher to administrator certification program sponsored by the Chicago Public Schools. Over the next 3 years, I completed 90 graduate hours to earn the credentials to serve as an educator. The theme "Educate of Die" caught my attention in February 2006 at which time I became a member of The Black Star Project. Since then this organization has provided me the exposure to learn more about the racial academic opportunity achievement gap than the earned 90 graduate hours. The Black Star Project quickly exhausts any list of superlatives by doing so much with so little. Their priorities are right on particularly since they refuse to accept mediocrity in our emerging youth. Space does not permit me the opportunity to right a thesis on my experiences and the wellspring of benefits one can acquire by associating with this organization.
