Mission: The arc of wichita county, inc. Is a non-profit volunteer organization, dedicated to including individuals with intellectual and other developmental disabilities in their communities.
Programs: The organization's programs assist persons with intellectual or other developmental disabilities by providing direct assistance to the individuals through training programs,educational programs, prevocational training and financial assistance as well as promoting independent living and social development. Over 500 individuals benefitted from these services. The organization sponsors camps for individuals with developmental disabilities. 40citizens attended camp tejas, 110 citizens attended camp harmony, and 60 attended camp noah. 30 special needs children, ages 3 thru 21, are enrolled in a licensed child care program through the arc. Child care is available for after school, early release days, and winter, spring and summer breaks. The bridge program serves 10 teens and adults thru its extended care program. Beginning in fiscal year september 30, 2016, the arc added hero house which served an average of 20 people with development disabilities each week. Hero house provides life skills training, job training and community involvement. For the fiscal year ended september 30, 2017, hero house served approximately 45 qualifying indiviuals. The arc offers a social program that served over 100 adults and teens with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
