Mission: The organization's primary mission is to build a world-class center of bioscience research, medical education and job creation. The goal is to provide health care benefits for mankind. To this end, a business accelerator and pre-seed fund have been established to support and continue the growth of bio-medical education and related industries in san antonio and bexar county.
Programs: Texas research park operations: pawell village apartments offers on-site housing for the graduate level researchers and employees of the university of texas health science center west campus located in the texas research park. These apartments are leased at below market rates, with trtf subsidizing rent, management and administrative operations. Trtf maintains the nature trail that is open to the public and all the grounds in the 1200 acre park. Pledged support of initiatives that extend over the next year: funding of the master participation agreement which brought incube labs to san antonio, and the mcdermott pre-seed fund established to fund early stage emerging technology companies and operate a business accelerator. Technology-based economic development: a quarterly luncheon program was instituted whereby emerging technology and early stage technology companies are introduced to investors and service providers. Trtf subsidized these events, the goal of which is to advance the research and growth of these companies. In addition, fund raising efforts continue to support technology-based economic development projects, to construct laboratory facilities for start-ups and to promote the expansion of the university of texas health science center west.
