Programs: Energy - assist low-income and elderly residents with the management and reduction of energy costs. This includes emergency financial assistance for families in financial crisis with payment of a portion of a utility bill. Additionally, assistance is provided in a long-term reduction offering bills by installing weatherization measures to make low-income households more energy-efficient. The program served 11,426 individuals in 7 counties by using a combination of federal assistance, state assistance and local assistance through energy companies and local united ways.
the children's services program provided early education services to income-eligible at-risk children. Tns' promoted early childhood education by delivering a comprehensive high-quality school readiness curriculum addressing the educational, nutritional, health, social, and emotional needs of low-income children ages birth to five as the head start/ early head start grantee for a nine county region just north, west, and south of the dallas/fort worth metroplex. Tns operated over 79 classrooms at 14 different sites strategically located throughout mineral wells, granbury, stephenville, azel, glen rose, cleburne, corsicana, decatur, bridgeport, boyd, alvarado, lillian, and weatherford. In 2016 we served 1,184 children ages birth to five, nearly all of which are from families living at or below the federal poverty line by combining best practices in early childhood education and collaborative partnerships with area school districts, social service agencies, and healthcare practitioners. Tns offers a range of services targeted to children and their families. These services include parental education, crisis intervention, counseling, medical and dental care, nutrition assistance, and instruction to children with special needs. Many of our preschool centers have previously achieved accreditation from the highly-regarded national association for education of the young child (naeyc).
