Mission: The specific purposes for which this corporation is organized are:a) to raise funds and to assist individuals and groups in their quest to raise funds, in order to support research and development for better treatments and to help find a cure for prostate cancer. B) to educate and inform people of all ages, as to the desirability for them to assist in the awareness, prevention and mission to find a cure for prostate cancer, by means of an active lifestyle. C) to raise awareness for prostate cancer throughout the world. D) to engage in all activities necessary, useful or expedient, through operative measures permitted by the oregon public benefit corporation law and section 501(c)(3) of the internal revenue code to promote the above mentioned primary purposes of the corporation.
Programs: Winter vinecki ("winter"), founder of team winter, has made it her mission to bring awareness to the pubic about prostate cancer and its toll on those afflicted by the disease through her participation in athletic events such as triathlons and marathons throughout the world. She and other supporting team winter athletes have teamed up to support the cause through wearing team winter apparel at these events, sharing the story behind team winter's creation, speaking in public, and distributing flyers with information about prostate cancer awareness. At each event, team winter sets up a tent on the day of the expo and race day. At this tent, winter speaks two to three times that day about her personal story of why she races, her life as an ironkids ambassador, and what team winter is all about. At each race, she speaks to crowds ranging in size from 200-2000 npeople. Additionally, she participates in radio newspaper, and tv interviews and other speaking events. Along with that, the team winter merchandise is available for other race-goers to buy in support of the cause, and merchandise is given away to those athletes who help raise funds for the cause. In
one in six men get prostate cancer, yet awareness and screening for men remains extremely low. The mission with the team winter s1x event is to change that. S1x is a month-long charity run where athletes from around the world can run, walk, or wheel to raise money and generate awareness for prostate cancer. Additionally, team winter gave away various merchandise and supplies to these participants which also increases prostate cancer awareness around the world.
the selling of team winter merchandise is related income and therefore not reportable on form 990-t. It furthers the exempt purpose of this organization by raising awareness about prostate cancer. All merchandise sold has various logos and other items promoting prostate cancer awareness screenprinted directly on the items. In addition, all merchandise sales are conducted by volunteers.
