Mission: The Task Force on Violent Crime was founded in 1981 for the purpose of reducing violent crime in Cleveland, Ohio, specifically homicide, rape, assault and armed robbery. As the Task Force united community leaders to make some real changes in the community's policies and practices, our focus moved from dealing with crimes committed to proposing means of prevention, with a special emphasis on youth. To reflect this change, the Task Force has been operating as the Partnership For A Safer Cleveland since 1996. The Partnership promotes best practices and effective violence prevention programs in the Greater Cleveland area, with a primary focus on the advancement of youth development, for the purposes of preventing youth crime and reducing youth involvement in the justice system.
