Mission: Take wing and soar productions exists to help classical actors of color to realize their full potential. The mission of the theatre production company is to support emerging and professional classical artists of color, by fostering their artistic achievement and personal growth, by providing opportunities for career development, and by developing creative programming that fosters diversity in classical theatre. Inherent in this mission is the intent to develop an awareness of personal value, cultural pride, and social leadership practices, in the belief that this awareness will lead to concern for, participation in and improvement of society.
Programs: 1. Twas inc. Produced its inaugural harlem shakespeare festival featuring 2 mainstage productions, 1 staged reading, 3 shakespeare films and 50 classical actors. These programs gave producing opportunities to two women and was presented across harlem at 3 venues. 2. Twas inc. Provided 3 other grassroots theatre companies with theatrical support services, including technical, administrative and creative services. These services enabled the companies to produce their theatrical productions for the stage and other special events. Take wing and soar productions received a substantial amount of inkind services and materials during our most recently completed fiscal year. In fact, the amount of inkind support received equals more that half the amount of our actual cash expense outlay. When we add our. Total cash expenses ($61,952) to our total inkind support ($76,900), we get the organizations total value for the year. In essence we provided services to the communities we serve in the amount of $138,852.
