I have volunteered for (SPIN) for around 8 1/2 years. This organization is a non-profit, all voluteer staff. They aim to educate women with children, also men, of their rights and self sufficiency. They help woman with problems of domestic violence, informed them of the VAWA Act. They campaign for ending hunger, collaborated with a study to so food stamps be available for everyone who qualify. San Diego has always been the lowest in food stamp participation, usually because of verbal denials, and office errors. SPIN has been involved with the community, helping youngsters with tutoring classes, for studenst to improve their education, and finally enableling them to High School graduation. Also to continue their education at a community College or University. They emphazise, "Education is the key for success".
SPIN is an all-volunteer organization whose sincere concern shows in their work for the community. The idea that knowledge and encouragement can fortify an individual, and thus a family, and therefore a community is proven many times over. For over a decade SPIN has worked shoulder to shoulder with San Diego residents to help them attain self-sufficiency. This has been accomplished in various ways as the situation arises. The knowledge SPIN provided helped many parents complete their college education, it has enabled teenagers to finish high school. Spin encourages these same people to help not only themselves, but their community as well. Join SPIN as we celebrate our 10th anniversary November 18, 2010. 619.296.3402
