Causes: Automotive Safety, Disaster Aid
Mission: To engage and support families affected by distracted driving crashes through state-and-nationwide resources which include shared information, tips, and activities; outreach and media relations; advocacy, research and outreach; and a place to join together to support and embrace the shared losses and efforts across the nation; and to take all other appropriate action in furtherance of such purposes, without partisanship of any kind.
Programs: Education & awareness events: we held education and awareness events, meetings, and attended conferences for the victims and their families to share their personal stories and facts behind distracted driving and its dangers. These events reached over 2. 9 million people nationwide and generated over 11 million web/media hits throughout social media and regualr media. We keep interested constituents educated and engaged on the latest research and educational events and activities nationwide so they can network and support the efforts.
victim outreach & training/placement: continued outreach to new families imacted by distracted driving has added over 345 new families this fy to share their stories with the public or advocate for safer driving. An additional 1,500 new crash occurences were added into database for outreach when applicable. Trained families and referred them to local schools, companies, and/or media for an opportunity to share their story and educate on the dangers of distracted driving.
it can wait speakers: we placed victims and their families as speakers at awareness events and media opportunities nationwide reaching over 22 million hits/clicks online. We coordinated icw events with victims speaking across the nation. Also we used out families as a network to share campaign awareness activities. Icw speakers shared their stories at over 68 events in the us for miscellaneous age groups and audiences. Generating a large following through social networking/online.
