Children Up

How can you not be supportive of an organization where the founders do their work for free and contribute financially? And how can you not be supportive when the effort promotes education for deserving students, especially students with limited financial resources? Cheers to Children UP.

It's truly inspiring to see individuals dedicating themselves to helping children and making a positive impact on their lives. People who exhibit qualities like perseverance, kindness, and faith in humanity often serve as remarkable role models and sources of inspiration for others. Their efforts can create a ripple effect, encouraging more people to join in and contribute to the betterment of society.Our appreciation and recognition can further motivate them to continue their important work.

Children Up is a stellar example of a "Mom and Pop" charitable organization: a good cause, with great success, growing slowly and solidly.

Children Up is a truly worthy organization run by dedicated volunteers. Through the years it's been a pleasure to get frequent updates about the students I've sponsored in Uganda. Hearing about their successes and admirable career paths because of this wonderful program has been a joy.

In the more than ten years I've supported ChildrenUp, I've seen only positive outcomes: ethical, smart leadership, effective programs, and regular communication and community building for donors.

Children Up always keeps me in the loop about the student I am sponsoring. I receive frequent updates, letters from the student and all exam results. I know that every dollar I donate goes to the program and I have been donating for many years, even when I was living in Australia.

We became involved when we heard about what Children Up was all about. We heard the story of one girl who shared our granddaughter’s name. She sounded amazing and decided to sponsor her. We have watched her grow and accomplish her goals. She is now working and advancing her medical training. Children Up provides us with letters and pictures of Lillian. We feel a real connection. Now we are sponsoring another girl. Giving opportunities to students who otherwise would not advance in their education. I also know that 100% of our contribution goes directly to the students. Please consider this wonderful organization.

I’m always happy to donate to Children Up because I know the money will be well spent to help the students they support. Board members are in close contact with staff in Uganda and visit annually (before COVID) to ensure that the program is on track. Many students have completed their education and are now working and serving as role models for current students. Children Up is truly making a difference!

Children Up is a fantastic organization that has helped children in Uganda receive an education who would not otherwise receive one. I have supported this organization and watched many of their graduates go on to careers that are making Uganda and the world a better place!

I love the commitment of the people running this charity. They care, they are involved, they are looking to the future!. These are educators interested in proving education opportunities where they are least available to those that are most deserving. I have been a contributor for the last 8 years because I believe they are making a significant difference and that the money raised is being used to benefit those targeted to benefit the most.

I have been supporting Children Up for the past 5 years (or more) . The thing I like the most about this NGO is the fact that virtually 100% of your donation goes directly to support the students.

This is an incredible organization that directly impacts children's futures in Uganda by directly giving them the funds that they need for their education. It is trustworthy and guaranteed and the founders are personally invested in the lives of the children and a bond forms that lasts for years. The art auctions and fundraisers and partnerships are all tangible and realistic events that support the organization.

We were introduced to Children Up by a friend, who is an active supporter of the organization. He shared stories with us of the children in Uganda who have had their lives changed by the educational opportunities provided by Children Up. We also appreciate that Children Up is a "human sized" organization, with its roots in the midwest, and administrated locally, thereby insuring that funds are carefully watched and used effectively. As a life long educator, I know that for some children , a future with promise can only be achieved though quality education. It is a blessing that this organization allows us here in America to have an impact on a child in Africa.

My husband and I have been contributing to Children Up through our church's alms giving for several years. My husband is impressed that the director and board members are all volunteers who receive no compensation for their services. That kind of dedication is laudable. Having taught on a reservation in NE Montana for 14 years, we witnessed how education and mentoring make all the difference. Children Up makes this essential difference for students in Uganda.

Children Up has a strong mission and its Board has a steadfast commitment to its Ugandan students’ educations. There is much learned at every level by all involved with this nonprofit. I am a retired teacher who had an amazing opportunity to engage an entire middle school in sponsoring one of Children Up’s first students who will soon be a practicing medical doctor. Life lessons of giving to others, the appreciation of education and the value of intrinsic motivation were vital take aways for middle school students then, AND continue today at CMS as it sponsors another Children Up student. My children, grandchildren and I also sponsor a fine young man through Children Up. I am grateful to Children Up for enriching me, my family and many students through its strong mission.

This is a wonderful volunteer organisation set up by dedicated and caring founders. We became involved as donors after working with them in an educational institution and witnessing their empathy for students. When, after retiring, they turned their energies to setting up this foundation to sponsor the education of Ugandan children, we were inspired by their efforts to make a difference in a part of the world where life is difficult for many children. There are many things we like about this organisation. There is an emphasis on working hard, values, cooperation and striving to maximise potential. Equal numbers of boys and girls are selected and their personal circumstances as well as their academic results are taken into consideration. The foundation is run with keen participation of the local people and not imposed from outside the country. Donors are kept in touch with the students' progress by reports and letters from the students. It is a privilege for us to be able to take part in an organisation which is ethically run and offers hope for a better future for a group of young people in this troubled world.

We have watched our sponsored student grow from a 7th grade student to a successful young man working in computer science. Much care is taken by Children Up selecting students and giving them mentor and peer support so they can achieve their goals. For only $100 a month it is amazing that my contribution is able to stretch so far and make a difference. The kids are dedicated and work so hard.

I have seen the dedication and love that the board and donors have for the organization and the work they do impact Uganda. This group's important work impacts not just the students they sponsor but also the communities where the students live. Excellent leadership and caring individuals!!!

I’ve only recently learned of this organization but have seen the dedication of staff and volunteers as they do everything possible to provide high-level educational opportunities to qualified students in this African nation. With their help, individuals are allowed to advance academically as well as emotionally. The progress of each student from his/her application through graduation is approached with ongoing mentoring and monitoring as a means to ensure success. It’s such a worthwhile program with far-reaching benefits not only for the student but the individual relationships and community that develop and In some cases, even the nation/world itself.

As a retired teacher, I find this charity so well organized and student based. Older students are required to mentor younger students. In-country directors are former students. The founder goes to Uganda once a year to supervise, oversee, and encourage the chosen students and to select new students who score very high on their 7th grade leaving exams in small villages. High school is paid for and only available to students who can pay the approximate $1000 US dollars a year. All of the students would not be able to go on with education without the Children Up scholarship. And it pays for as high as they can achieve, even medical school. What a wonderful way to build a nation from the grass roots level with no strings attached except to study and to help one another! Donations completely go into the program. The US Director/Founder and the Board of Directors are education-based volunteers. And the US fundraisers are really fun and will be again after the COVID opening. I may not have all the facts exactly correct, but I follow the email newsletter and see all the work that is being done on an individual basis. I am aware of a junior high school class who did their own fundraising and sponsored one student for a year’s worth of school. There is great community trust in this program and in the people who run it.

Charlie and Betty have poured their hearts into ChildrenUp and as a result, so many students in Uganda have benefitted from their hard work and dedication. They are committed to empowering students through education and they have done so with integrity and passion since the beginning. ChildrenUp continues to grow and flourish with each passing year and the result is more educated citizens in Uganda serving their communities and making a difference. Truly a full circle organization that is designed to keep giving back.

Charlie and Betty Laliberte have led Children Up with great love and care for the students they support. Their intelligent leadership has found creative ways to solve problems. They never seem to give up. By encouraging donors to sponsor individuals, they have helped to connect the student with a real person who will follow his or her progress and respond to their personal letters. As the years have passed, more and more students have benefited from their hard work and willingness to make a difference for children in Uganda. It's a wonderful organization!
