Mission: The organization's primary exempt purpose is to be an educational community resource for the understanding and appreciation of the visual arts and a source of inspiration, encouragement, and professional career development for community artists and residents.
Programs: The cva's current programing is targeted at three specific audiences: 1) emerging local artists; 2) community art appreciators; 3) high school youth. Our emerging artist gallery is a local artist gallery and hub for art appreciation school groups, residents and tourists, and a gathering location for art classes and art events including "first friday artwalk". During the academic school year, the center facilitates an artist mentoring program at the steamboat springs high school that provides cva artist mentors who work weekly through the academic year with ap art students, providing artistic support, constructive critiques, studio tours, and field trips to denver museums. Through the support of the cva over the past four years, approximately 30% of its artists have greatly improved their painting expertise, realized solid local art sales, and are interested in taking the next step by gaining gallery representation outside of steamboat springs. Additionally, approximately 35 community artists were able to display and sell their work at the center and approximately 10,000 visitors a month were able to view the visual art exhibits.
