Through the years, St Vincent de Paul PHOENIX AZ has helped me helped others on THREE separate occasions. All three situations were immediate need and they said, just come down, and don't worry. And they helped me help these others! From a bus ticket and long distance call (yes long ago) to get a run away I "found" in Mexico back to her family in Oregon, to clothing an entire family of three ("Just go get a week's worth of clothes") so they could find jobs and go to school (yes they had NO CLOTHES! and we're "trapped" remotely") to helping someone with their electric bill.
Last night, my friends and I went to SERVE the homeless for dinner service with dignity and respect. It was amazing.
Look up THIS organization's 990 and you will see they keep just under 10% of money donations. 90% goes to those they serve. Their HUGE staff are unpaid volunteers. I am NOT Catholic but THIS is my favorite LARGE charity. I give everything to them when I "clean house" including vehicles and tractors. They are the charity EVERY one should try to emulate!
