Mission: The mission of st john's home for children is to embrace a tradition of caring for youth and families by securing family focused services through community based collaboration to promote family well-being.
Programs: Mission:to provide residential group home housing and advocacy program. The home provides care for twelve children at full capacity. These children (consumers) are boys ranging from ages 8 to 14 years of age who may be abused, neglected or who are experiencing emotional or behavioral difficulties. The home provides a comprehensive range of education, rehabilitative and theraputic services to youth and their families to promote family safety, health, satisfaction and positive community membership. Fiscal year 2014-15 accompishments:positive progress was made on targeted outcomes with children in placement for at least 90 days: (a) 48% of the children achieved or made progress on at least 75% of targeted objectives (b) 89% of the children improved their level of functioning as measured by the child and adolescent functional assessment scale (cafas) (c) 78% of children discharged were discharged to a lesser restrictive environment (for example natural home, adoptive home care or foster home) (d) 100% of the children attained or maintained a grade point average of 2. 0 or higher and (e) 71% of the children demonstrated a decrease in high risk/critical incident behavior from time of admission to time of discharge. The fiscal year to date occupance rate was 98%. The st. John's home is licensed by and is funded in part under an agreement with the wv department of health and human resources, bureau for children and families. St. John's - st. Vincent home, inc. Is accredited by the council on accreditation (coa). St. John's has also been approved by the west virginia delopment office to participate in the neighborhood investment program allowing us to award a financially limited amount of tax credits. St. John's maintained partnerships in education with both elm grove elementary school and with bethany college.
