I don’t drive and my cardiologist is difficult to get to. Luckily, I found Faith in Action that accepted my application. My first pick up was yesterday and I was so happy about it I immediately wanted to find out about where I could leave a review. I was afraid that I wasn’t going to make my appointments which are extremely important for me right now as I learning to live with chronic CHF and disability. My driver, Theresa was so sweet and friendly.
I’m hoping my situation will change in the future so I can follow through with my appointments but for now I’m looking forward to letting Faith in Action assist me.

I have been on the Board of Directors, have been a volunteer and have been Chair of Fundraising. As a volunteer I have planted flower bulbs, I have raked leaves, I have transported to doctor and dentist appointments, hair appointments, to and from dialysis sessions and have done house cleaning and grocery shopping for elderly or disabled persons in our community. The appreciation from these folks is special. They explain that these things we do for them allow them to stay out of assisted living or nursing home facilities. The services we provide free of charge allow them to remain independent.

Faith in Action Caregivers of Wheeling and the Ohio Valley is an organization whose mission is to make it possible for elderly and disabled individuals maintain their independence by providing many of the needed services that enable individuals to remain in their own homes. These services, such as transportation to medical and other appointments, home and gardening chores, grocery shopping, compassionate visitations and respite care, are provided by a group of community volunteers who are trained and supervised by an office staff of caring professionals. This small and dedicated staff handles calls for assistance, matches the invididual requiring assistance with a compatible volunteer, and follows up to assure that the service has been properly provided. Volunteers are trained by the Executive Director and are prepared to handle situations that may arise in the course of providing service. I have been trained as a volunteer and have enjoyed the relationships that I have had with service recipients. In my role as President of the Board, it has been my privilege to work with the dedicated staff of Faith in Action and with the other caring professionals that make up the Board of Directors.

Faith in Action is an organization focused on enabling older and disabled individuals to maintain their independence. Whether taking a person to an appointment, helping them shop or shopping for them, spending time in their home doing light housework, or reading to them, these activities allow others to live at home and have a sense of independence. Having driven a number of individuals to appointments has allowed me to experience the gratitude these people display for the service provided. I have also met many new people and learned much from them. This service adds to the quality of life of those living in this region

Faith in Action Caregivers of Wheeling/ Ohio Valley performs a very valuable service. Many older and disabled people in our community are often able to continue to live independently at home with just a little help, like transportation to doctor's appointments, grocery shopping or friendly visits. This is the type of services that FIAC provides. Dedicated, compassionate and talented staff members match volunteers with care receivers. An incredible amount of work is done toward supporting older and disabled people on a very small budget. Donors can be assured that their contributions go to help those most in need with a minimum of overhead. Volunteers are trained and screened. Care receivers are enthusiastically appreciative! I only wish a service like this were available in the community where my elderly mother lives. I would not hestitate to recommend Faith in Action Caregivers of Wheeling/ Ohio Valley.
