Mission: We tell authentic stories about african-american life in central il past and present, celebrating and sharing our history and culture and planning for our future. We enhance cultural life of our area.
Programs: In 2017 the springfield & central illinois african american history museum worked diligently at presenting the african american perspective and how their contributions added to the fabric of america we sought to bring events and programs to the springfield & central il area that adhered to the museums mission, vision and sustainability plan. To ensure that all our goals were met we improved upon relationships with other groups and organizations. Listed below are many of the museums most successful events and programs that helped the museum to achieve greatness in 2017- new philadelphia exhibit,community open house, illinois authors event, quilt exhibit, criminal justice symposium,summer camp,rosenwald etc.
