Regarding my experience with Spoorthi Organization:
On visiting them personally, it was a pleasant surprise to find that the organization is more of a home to the kids and had less of an NGO atmosphere. It was heart-warming to see the children address Mr.Srivyal fondly as 'Mammaya' ( meaning uncle in Telugu). The organization provides long-term care for their basic needs, healthcare, and education right from their Primary schooling to Graduation. I was assured about the funds being utilized in the right manner for the kids after seeing the amenities (Nutritious diet, spacious hostel and classrooms, Library, Computer Lab, In-house health-care, playground, sanitation facilities) being provided.

I have been associated with Sphoorti quite some time now. What amazes me is not just the education & other support for the kids, but also the way Sphoorti builds the self-confidence and courage in each of their kids! They are essential attributes for the kids as the grow up. Sphoorti also focus a lot on supporting kids education and that's where I was connected and continuing the journey. Sphoorti also helps the society with on-the-spot needs such as supporting immigrant workers when they were traveling back to their home, providing food & essentials for folks during recent rain pour... I can go on and on. I am blessed to be associated with Sphoorti and wishing Srivyal and team the best!

As the statement beside the 5 star rating says, Sphoorti - "far exceeds expectations".
What opinion does many of us have of a destitute home in India? 9 out of 10 would say - poor conditions, crowded rooms, unclean surroundings and sympathetic faces.
But, visit Sphoorti's campus in Dundigal and I bet you will change your opinion. It is a Hygienic, Healthy and Blissful home for children.

I am fortunate to have had close association with Sphoorthi for more than 10 years now. When I first visited Sphoorti a decade back, it was a small home in Cherlapally area, with children from different backgrounds like orphans, semi orphans, poor children who cannot afford even one meal a day. I, along with some like minded friends were visiting orphanages in-and-around Hyderabad in 2008-09, to see if we can find any "Genuine" home/Orphanage that we can work with and support.

After a long search, we found a perfect home, with a perfect person running it. May be I should say, owning it. It is a wonderful place for children who have been denied of basic necessities. The food, education, health and most importantly that homely care is all available to the children here. The dedication and sincerity that you expect from some one running a destitute home are abundant in Srivyal.

From a small home in Cherlapally 10 years back, Sphoorti today houses more than 200 children in a own building with a kitchen, dormitories, library, computer lab. Every penny is spent in a transparent and meaningful way. They now aim to build a school in their campus to provide free and quality education to not only the inmates of Sphoorti, but also other children in that area.

Finally, Sphoorti is not only a destitute home, it is an organization that supported thousands of families during floods, Covid-19 and what not. Anyone who is in need and approached Sphoorti has always got support. I wish all the best to Sphoorti and wish more and more support to these guys doing some really wonderful work.

I have volunteered and been alongside the kids for years now. I have enjoyed every moment spent at the organisation, and the children have become family. There is a sense of belongingness fostered in the environment at Sphoorti. I couldn't have been more fortunate to have found a mentor in Srivyal. The love with which he takes care of children and staff is impeccable.

Sphoorti not only limits it's services to the children but also extends a lending hand to The community. Incredibly proud and inspired to be associated With the organisation.

Sphoorti is doing a great job to take care of orphaned and less fortunate children. Children I have seen as young kids have grown up as well rounded persons who are ready to face the challenges of life. Since I have seen this first hand I confidently tell my friends and family to contribute to Sphoorti as I know their hard earned money is utilised honestly. From 5 odd children to around 250 children today, Sphoorti has grown by leaps and bounds.

I have known this organization, Sphoorti Foundation for more than 10 years now.. The way the children are taken care of is very commendable. Children learn the right things at the right age and they look forward to a bright future. They are given plenty of opportunities to identify their skills and enhance the same. They definitely are getting quality food and education. The best part is that they are never forced to compromise on anything just by virtue of living in a children's home because the founder believes in the quality of life.
Every step that the founder takes is towards the betterment of the lives of children.

I have been associated with Sphoorti Foundation from 2015. I am from Hyderabad and got to know about Sphoorti through a friend. Undoubtedly this was one of the best decisions I have taken to be a part of Sphoorti family. I have been to the campus multiple times, invited my parents and friends. And every time it was a heart warming experience to meet the kids. I am happy for the progress that Sphoorti made in last few years directly and remotely helping hundreds of needy kids and their families. It's a proud moment for everyone to see the kids flourish in academics and with all the hard work the foundation does, I am sure they go on to become responsible citizens helping others in need. All in all it's a positive impact that foundation has been creating for the society. I wish Srivyal and the foundation all the very best and will continue to do my part.

I found Sphoorti Foundation a great non profit organization. Close to 300 children of lesser god, are accommodated, fed and educated. Looking at the enormity of the task, Sphoorti is doing an excellent job with donations from individuals from India and abroad. No doubt inspired by their mentor Drivel, the children are doing very well in academics and in all extra curricular activities. I wish Sphoorti to continue their hard work for a noble cause to transform otherwise forgotten children into responsible citizens of our country.

Sphoorti is a life-shaping milestone that made me believe in the power of an individual, & that grit and determination can enable access to quality education and save lives of the underprivileged community. In the remarkable 11 years that I have been associated with Sphoorti, my inspiration/guide & mentor Srivyal has won hearts all acorss the state and internationally for his tremendous efforts, Sphoorti started from humble beginnings with 120 children that has now transformed into a sprawling 25,000sqft lively facility will vouch for credibility and remarkable care for its children.

The very moment you step into Sphoorti campus, you are instantly captivated by their mission to change lives of underprivileged in providing them with long-term care with basic housing amenities, quality education and top-notch healthcare . The most striking quality about Sphoorti, are its smiling young faces, that are a hope for the future. Kudos to Srivyal, for nurturing these young minds with love & care & transforming them into responsible citizens of the nation.

Sphoorti Foundation is a good platform for changing lives of children. I have visited the place and their kids. Wonderful place and very homely. They provide basic food, sleeping mats, library room, computer room etc. Kids refer to the founder Srivyal as mama/uncle. Older kids help out with cooking for the younger ones along with a cook, and also help tutor them with studies. They have 2 dogs for the security of the place. They are looking at expanding the building and providing more resources for kids. I would encourage everyone to sponsor a child or volunteer their time there. Before I donated, I visited the place, met the children, met Srivial(the director), understood the background, motives and how the place is run and was very much satisfied. The kids are well cared for including food, stay, security, schooling, discipline, sense of family. Extra-curriculars, outings, regular visits to the campus by volunteers/corporate employees, all add up to build a good character for the kids and give them dreams/ideas/people to look up to. The hard work, dedication and love of Srivial and his staff is there for anyone to see and is truly the cornerstone of Sphoorti.

The first image that strikes to your head when they say home for less privileged is "small rooms, mats, basic food, study hall and kids who are sad for being in there". But trust me guys SPHOORTI is quite opposite to all of that. Kids are given all amenities that kids in normal conditions have, they have computer room, music room, library (latest edition are the infrared security cameras ) etc . The kids are always radiant with joy and life. One of the most transparent NGOs I've seen. The credit goes to their " Peddha Maama" (Srivyal the founder is fondly called like that by the kids here). From schooling, boarding and extra curricular activities, Sphoorti provides everything that a kids requires to make him/her self reliant (with knowledge and strong values) in this competitive and tough world.

The big and famous non profit organization have ridiculous administrative overheads where less than 10% of any contributions from the society actually reach the needy while the rest is used for running the organization. When I ran across Sphoorty, my search stopped. Srivyal is a very dedicated and committed individual who strives for caring for kids in need. While not everyone is fortunate and / or blessed to do what Srivyal is doing at Sphoorti, everyone can help the cause and play their role. Since I have known Sphoorti organization, the number of kids this organization is supporting has quadrupled and I am sure there are lot of individuals and organizations that care and strive for giving back to the society that helped this organization serve so many kids. We all give back to the society with the intrinsic reason of self satisfaction beyond actually helping the kids in need. Hence, if not for helping someone, support this organization for your own self

I know SPHOORTI foundation since from my bachelors education almost 8years, I was really inspired by Srivyal's who has very kind heart became a father to those who are in need of help. I could not really believe that somebody can do such selfless service in today's crazy society. He left his career, opportunities and many more in life thats sounds very inspiring to all of us.

I have not visited the campus but I got to know from my friends about the children discipline and their skills really impressive. And more about Srivyal garu kind positive attitude.

Every single penny that we donate are being genuinely used towards Kids future, and in building discipline next generation. I pledge my support to SPHOORTI Foundation.

I wish to join Srivyal garu one day to serve society.

I came to know about this Organization almost from the days of its inception and was watching it grow from a few couple of children. I would appreciate the handwork and determination of the founders to take it to new level year after year and the values they have being inculcating to the children who are part of Sphoorthi. Sphoorthi has provided an opportunity to others who would like to give something back to the Society by providing a good education and healthy food to the underprivileged children in the society . Thanks a lot Sphoorthi.

It just feels so good to write about Sphoorti. It's just been a month and a half I know Sphoorti and it's already become a part of my life :) that's the magic there !! Thanks to google for showing up sphoorti while searching homes for underprivileged kids. Its the name that caught my attention first and believe me the name is so very apt. Sphoorti means Inspiration and enthusiasm and you will find the kids there both inspiring and filled with tons and tons of enthusiasm. It was more than a blessing to celebrate my daughter's first birthday @ Sphoorti and it turned out to be a most unbelievable party I could ever think of with 200 kids singing the Birthday song with smile so pure that you will fall in love .
It remains a memory for my whole family. Every kid has a sad story behind but when you see them all their smile is so adorable, the confidence they carry is incredible, their energy levels are just so high and positive. This proves that little love from all of us and the care taken by the people managing the place, the kids made their 'life a celebration'. Nothing can take away their smile and that's how they live and innocently teach every visitor who has been to Spoorthi. If you think you are doing a favour visiting Sphoorti trust me you end up getting more than what you give. It's just pure bliss to be there.Cant afford to miss any opportunity to visit Spoorthi.
Kudos to Srivyal and the whole team of people working for the kids. Wish you all lots of success ahead. God Bless !

I can see first hand how my donations are being used. Kids are not only provided with food and shelter, they are provided with education, values, security and all round development to help them grow into good adults.

Sphoorti - It’s difficult to sum up the efforts Spoorthi team as put up in just one paragraph. For The Team, each day spent at the orphanage provided an unforgettable experience in the shape or form of hilarity, high emotion, drama, heartbreak and most of all LOVE. These children, despite their personal tragedies, simply exude love, affection and gratitude in everything they say and do. For me It was about giving the children encouragement and happiness but they gave me so much more.

Great Job Sphoorti

the kids there were happy living in a healthy environment, for being educated, to have a helping hand and are foreseeing many opportunities to shape their future.

Today i take this privilege to share my feelings and something about Sphoorti Foundation kids.

I've been to many Orphanage homes and interacted with many Kids, noticed one thing in their Faces "We lost something in our lives, we need something to fulfill the gap ".

But when it comes to Sphoorti Kids , its completely a different Picture here and wonderful experience that i have faced. Every Child in this Home has some Charm , Magic , crazy Enthusiasm in their faces and some Spark in their eyes.

Normally people visit homes to make kids happy with some fun activities or to give moral support to boost up them in their lives. But when it comes to Sphoorti, when we visit we get loads of happiness in return , the way they receive , the way they engage with the people and smiles in their faces and this makes Sphoorti Foundation to stand as a unique foundation than any other.

Great thing about Sphoorti is Happiness everywhere and kids with only smile on their faces and that shows :"Always keep smiling in lives what ever it may happen" Specially the children here they feel that they are valued , important and a very special ones.

kids with multi-talents like Singing, dancing, etc, and excelling very good in studies as well.

The successful person behind this great work Mr. Srivyal Vuyyuri garu and his team - Salute to your work sir, its not just providing the food ,shelter or cloths etc etc ... ... The Love , the environment that you providing to Children is just Awesome , wonderful ,Excellent. Children here , they feel that they are in the "Safest Hands" -- altogether it's " Home of Happiness."

"Sphoorti Foundation stands as its best as a good example to show how a foundation should be and how the Children should be treated"

Love u all Kids :) :)
Long way to go :)

Keep going Srivyal garu __/\__...... Sphoorti Foundation will always be on Top as it is :)

Looks like "Whoever steps into this temple, make them feel like God :)" is the motto of Sphoorti. I truly felt that way when I stepped into Sphoorti 4 months ago.

I read somewhere that money can never make people work the way you want...only inspiring them to love their work would do miracles . The facility was kept so clean that I can see everyone who works there thinks of Sphoorti as their own home....Kids are happy, running around, bubbly and ofcourse kid-like :)....

The excitement in every kid was contagious. It's like disney world of Hyderabad :).... Magic just happens there and angels fly around giggling, playing, smiling and laughing....that's how my first and later experiences were....The teenage girls seem to know what they want to become when they grow up...they were prompt in answering ..may be it's the most asked question to them....or they just dream more..:)...I can't tell...

I remember watchman "Lakshmaih" saying Namaskaram everytime we met...It left a very memorable impression on my mind...He is elderly and yet he is so humbling....I in turn folded my hands and it felt good for doing that outside a temple ..to a person...The forgotten basics are just a norm at Sphoorti ...

There is humility...there is mischief...there is joy...there is discipline.....there is serenity.....and the whole area around Sphoorti is filled with one word..."LIFE".... It's like a healing center to any lost soul..... it's a destiny to many celebrating hearts....it's a school...it's a temple ...it's Sphoorti...it's an inspiration to many.. :)...

Thank you Srivyal for creating this wonderful place on this earth.... It's like a reminder to rest of us how a beautiful breathing world should be...Blessed are U and..Blessed are the people at Sphoorti.....World is yet to see some of the best citizens of this nation :)..

How can you not visit an NGO or see a face in person and still be inspired to reach out? How great is that foundation, which inspires thousands of people around the world by its deeds and not words alone..?? I had heard a lot of great things about Sphoorti….and finally started doing some research and learning more about the organization. Initially I thought it was like any other NGO providing shelter and education to underprivileged kids.... Great!!! But is this enough to get inspired? At least it was not to me knowing there were a thousand other organizations I can choose to donate my time and money to.

I started following Sphoorti on Facebook and as I scrolled through the pictures, one astonishing thing stood out... The happiness that is reflected in the eyes of these innocent kids. There was no sadness anywhere in those pictures except in my heart when I opened the album. I was expecting to see some sad faces but NO!! …. The pictures made me smile in return.. For the very first time, I understood the meaning of pure joy…:)

The little kids are happy because they live in a home with a family atmosphere and not in an orphanage. The dreams in their eyes promise that there is still so much more happiness left in this world and yet to come their way in spite of the less than ideal circumstances. Someone said “Children are love made visible”. Is there any other way for us than to embrace and nourish our children for a better tomorrow that we all dream of...?? From that moment, it was an easy choice for me to support the Sphoorti Foundation. I commend Srivyal Vuyyuri, founder of Sphoorti who is carrying this torch for the kids and all the supporters of this foundation.

Everyone says…”When you visit Sphoorti, Kids are great and the feeling of joy is overwhelming….” I can’t wait to experience that great feeling and own one of those moments pretty soon :)

It was a small building and I could not easily identify the address when I first went to sphoorti quite some time ago. Srivyal, its director helped me out and luckily, I've met some kids playing cricket outside the campus.. perhaps an after school recreation.

The first impression or rather should I say my realisation was overwhelming for simple reasons. The confidence that those kids displayed, the mood this institution was encouraging amongst the kids and above all, their simple approach. Sphoorti was the place I knew I would be long associated with in any manner that would be. One thing stands out at sphoorti is the feeling we get as we walk in... Its a home...not an Orphanage... as rightly said by its Mentor, Srivyal as excited and anxious as always, the force behind the idea!!!

When I first learned about Sphoorti, it was the name which caught my attention... later when I happened to meet the people behind, that mere attention turned to fascination and a lasting impression. What the people at sphoorti do is pretty much basic. Giving children happiness, security, and a sense of belonging is as much a priority as their academic and professional development and thats where I believe this institution is Unique, empowering the children to dream big and providing them with necessary tools to make these dreams come true.

I am sure there are ways as many as there can be, for I could not have agreed with any concept more than here.. For children unfortunate as they may be otherwise for various socio-economic reasons, here is a place, a chance for them to be competant like any other child and have oppurtunities as any other child is entitiled to in any ideal world... here is a place where life gets all the dignity irrespective of any other factors which may have otherwise compromised it.

In their Uncle (Mavayya in local tongue) and the other support staff, these children have some one to go to, to be cared and supported by and ensure every thing is taken care off... a comprehensive rehabilitation that is required to restore a safe and secure childhood to the child. Education that is not bound by mere schooling but an organised and planned curriculum which help the child develop necessary interpersonal skills, behavioral traits that are so very essential to survive in a dynamic and competetive world. Yoga, Music & Dance classes and other Professional education that could well shape the future of these kids. Necessary healthcare that is required for any child to grow up healthier gets an equal imporantance. There's some fun time too... I still remember my first game of cricket on my first day to sphoorti. That little lad who spanked my left arm spinners all around the ground. That childish excitment and yet unparalled discipline and comaraderie.

Its a place that means a lot to many in different ways. A dream for the Man behind, srivyal who visions to build a campus with permanent hostel blocks, schools & colleges perhaps accomodate thousands of children, make it a larger, self sustaining Institution. For me personally, its a lot more than an institution as I weave quite a few of my plans for my tomorrow around it. Simply put its an inspiration as the name would mean literally, Sphoorti.

SPHOORTI is a non-profit organization working for underprivileged children - orphaned, abandoned, destitute and other vulnerable groups. I have been helping them from past one year. I plan to visit the place in near future when I visit India as it is very nearby to my hometown. It has been started by one of my school alumni named Srivyal who I salute for all his work and his love, care, hope & confidence that he passes onto the children which in turn spreads into society. I like one sentence which he told me in one of the conversation is that, He wants to see a world where there will not be a need to create such organizations.

I found the children quite cheerful, growing nicely in all manners - physically, emotionally, socially and intellectually. It is always heartening to see their accomplishments, and the opportunities that are opened up to them. Sphoorti is taking all the steps needed to groom them to be productive and responsible citizens once they growup. The transparency in the functioning of this Organization is very assuring, so that the tiny bit that you are contributing is rightfully serving its purpose, giving you the ultimate satisfaction. The teachers and supporting staff win you over with their dedication for their job and always remain approachable to all kids. Sphoorti has always been special for its service both in purpose and practice. Since it's inception I had the privilege of meeting with the kids through its founder Srivyal. To the day, what sets it apart is the passion of each individual contributing towards growth. Kids are the most adorable, talented and promising souls in our society and nurturing their interests is the best form of giving back to the society. In Sphoorti, I have seen a healthy and clean shelter, nutritious food, educational support and co-curricular activities forming part and parcel of each kids' life. Srivyal's consistent efforts in spreading the message through friends and those who care, has catapulted his work such that more children who are deprived of education and family support be a part of its growing family. I'm hopeful and certain that a crusade - so benign and inspiring, thrives and changes the word around us. It's a home away from home indeed. And just like home, kids at Sphoorti celebrate festivals, sing, dance, color, draw - basically do everything that a healthy childhood would require a child to do. One cannot understand truly the privilege of education until he has one. What attrached me to Sphoorti and continues to is their commitment for betterment of the lives of the kids, kids from troubled backgrounds, through education and community living. Each of the kids have 150+ borthers and sisters at Sphoorti to take care of. The vision of Srivyal that every kid should have similar upbringing, similar childhood interests such as reading books, celebrating festivals, watching movies, learning etc has driven Sphoorti to grow phenomenally and sutainably. The key word these days for any organisation, be it and NGO or an MNC, is sustainability and Sphoorti has its roots firmly planted in that respect. All the best to Team Sphoorti and may more kids benefit from having the same childhood and options that we privileged folks have had!

Personally I feel that those who tell that they are doing something for the kids by going to SPOORTY is missing a point . We learn a lot from the kids .. We learn from the way they carry themselves, the way they treat each other with respect , the love and affection they show each other , the selfless ness they show right from a small chocolate , the obedience, their encouragement of each other and thir team work .. That's how one should be in this world .. The kids are like that everyday with or without the presence of srivyal .. I went many children homes .. But I can proudly say that no child has behaved even close to way my kids behave .. I commend srivyal for not only the unmatched work he is doing but also the way he is doing it .. Proud to be a part of SPOORTY .. My love to the kids

The first time i went to Sphoorti on 25th July,2012 - something about that place made me go again two times after that till now and i will continue to go here after. The first time 9 of us went. The experience was so good that i made sure i take all my friends the next time and make them see the beauty of Sphoorti. So, the second time 16 of us went. I am pretty sure the number will increase with every visit, as no one can get enough of Sphoorti in just one visit. The Kids here are so good in everything they do, be it studies or extra curricular activities. The level of discipline is too high, and it reflects in everything they do especially in the way they talk and interact with people who come to visit them, in the way they prepare for their exams way in advance and in the way they eat together in their beautiful kitchen. Srivyal garu - the person behind Sphoorti is my inspiration in a way and i think he is doing a very good job. Sphoorti foundation definitely deserves to be on the 2012 Top-Rated Nonprofits List, not just 2012 but i think for the coming years too.

When my daughter Dana, was awarded a fellowship to teach digital media to children in Hyderabad, my husband and I decided we would come to India for a short visit to try and experience a little of what she was getting to do. The most important thing to Dana was that we would visit the Sphoorti Foundation. We are so glad we did! We were lucky enough to be there during one of the Ganesh celebrations and were so welcomed to be a part of it! This is such a great organization. My husband had such a good time playing frisbee with the kids and the girls were kind enough to take us on a wonderful tour! It was a visit we will never forget and are hoping to be able to come back soon in the not to far future.

Since ever before, I have always had the desire to reach out to underprivileged children, but it had only stayed as a desire like most of us possess. Thankfully, I happened to search for NGOs on Google about 6 years back and finally found Sphoorti, which caught my attention and i went through the details.
I felt like a special entity, being welcomed with warm smiles and children asking my name and showing me around the place. Children in Sphoorti are very different compared with any other child outside, be it in discipline, cleanliness or behavior. I was completely amazed by the neat and organized rooms. Clothes in place, neatly folded uniforms up on the hangars, shoes and socks arranged together, footwear neatly arranged outside the rooms. A few older kids supervise these tasks and help the younger ones with their studies etc. The enthusiasm and responsibility with which they conduct their daily chores is highly applause. All of them are talented and they often engage themselves in drawing and painting as well as dancing, singing and playing games. They are one big happy family, sharing and caring for each other, definitely on their way to becoming the future responsible and bright citizens of our country.
Spending 2 hrs with the children has made such a deep impact in my mind and heart, i have decided to be associated with Sphoorti on a regular basis and in as many ways i can, to help them grow bigger. Not just only me will make all my family members and friends also join hands and serve these lovely and lively kids in all the way they can and Feel very proud that I found Sphoorti. Hats Off to Srivyal for taking out time from his daily schedule and giving this home all that he can. Good Luck to and and to all the kids...

I have visited Sphoorti numerous times over the years and seen the kids grow, in age, height and in their ability to believe in their dreams and passions! The discipline, compassion, and good nature of Srivyal, their mentor and hero, is seen evidently in the kids behavior and during your conversations with them. There is hope and determination in their eyes to make their lives better and be able to use the opportunity they have had as being part of the Sphoorti home. I cannot just admire Srivyal but also respect that he has not only done something amazing for these homeless children, but done it exceedingly well! We need more leaders like Srivyal and more kids that could believe in their dreams for a better India and better world.

"Sphoorti" is an Organizations which not only serves basic needs for the kids but also gives the best facilities for their well being. The main man Srivyal came forward with a great wisdom to give a better life to those under privileged children. He takes care of each and every aspect of the kids like a father, brother, teacher and as a role model. As I live elsewhere, I could visit this place only once and had a great experience with the kids and Srivyal. The kids are well organized, groomed with clean and healthy habits. They are well mannered and respect the values they were taught. I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wants have a peaceful time with those kids. Sphooti is something that I Came across as a part of my Social Responsibility Project at my college. The first day I went there around 2:30, I pretty surprised as I did not see any kids there. I enquired and found that the kids were at school. That came as a pleasant surprise to me. We had a tour of the entire place. It was clean and homely. They had a well equipped library and computer lab. There are around 160 kids here, whose ages are between five and 15. The children there are pro-active. Apart from providing the basic needs like food, clothing and shelter, the NGO also takes care of their education, quite seriously. The second day we went there, we had our lunch with them. They give equal importance to sports as well as education. Mr. Srivyal Vuyyuri, the Director of Sphoorti, is doing a noble job by dedicating his life and career to the well being of these children. I look forward to visiting this place again.

It was around 7 years ago that I got introduced to Sphoorti via an article in a leading Telugu newspaper. I was at that time in the US.The story was small and told how one person was trying to help a small group of children mostly those who have been deprived of the basic care and needs due to the absence of a parent/parents. The fact that the person managing the effort was so young and well educated was selflessly and passionately working made me take a look at it twice. It did not seem to be like any other NGO and I started being a part of it initially by contributing in cash. I started interacting with Srivyal and got truly inspired by the efforts. I got some of my friends engaged in the effort as well. When I returned to India, I visited the NGO and was amazed at the work the NGO has been doing and how it has expanded itself from a few children to more than hundred children. The dedication and effectiveness of the staff and the discipline that is maintained in conjunction with the utmost care and cleanliness and hygiene needs to be seen rather than explained. Kudos to the founder Srivyal , all the staff who work there and the bigger team of volunteers and Donors. This is the one of the best NGO I have ever seen. Please become part of the noble cause. This was two years ago, and I was doing my Masters in Mass Communication at the University of Hyderabad. We were to visit an NGO and give a report on how internal communication in the organisation was functioning. I was sceptical initially, since I had visited children's shelters earlier, and was also involved with a few personally. The way the homes were run, did not make me feel happy, it was a sad, tragic, sinking feeling. But when I met Srivyal for the first time, he was clear that he wanted to run the organisation in a professional manner. I was impressed. When it comes to NGOs in India, many words like empathy, change, and grass-roots are thrown up, not once did I hear the word 'professional' in the Indian NGO sector. And boy, was it professional! Neatly organised, friendly teachers and attendants, books that the children could read in their pastime, and exposure to dance, and workshops in photography and music. The kids were genuinely happy! I remember walking out with a feeling of contentment. You should visit 'Sphoorti'. They are not only working for orphaned children. Walk into the place and you will see what a therapeutic effect an act of goodness has!

I don't even know where to start because there are just so many good things to say about Sphoorti. On my first day, the children greeted me with hand holding and smiles. Ever since, we laugh and play games together once a week. The fact that these children have a safe place for fun is especially important to me. They are not only receiving a healthy childhood and an essential education, but also one of the fundamentals of a good life: a space for play. Sphoorti is well-known, with visitors coming by all the time. The organization runs smoothly but retains a feeling of "home" for the children. This is truly a unique and impressive organization.

A wonderful organisation addressing the needs of the destitute. All appreciation to Mr. Srivyal on taking such a brave yet a noble step to serve the society in the best way possible. Their innocent smiles and expressions are so priceless that one doesnot need to give a second thought to support them. Their world is always filled with happiness, hopes and dreams. and it is definetly our responsibility to make the kids realise them and convert them into reality. As every child is precious in the building of tomorrow's nation, I am extremely glad on being associated with a very transparent and noble 'Sphoorthi Foundation' located in the cosmopolitan Hyderabad which is functioning perfectly as per the needs of the kids and by God's grace is being consistently supported by many well wishers world wide.

Few things are better felt than expressed!! If anyone wants to learn Group Dynamism & Team Building, I bet this is the place. It is definetely not a joke, rather a fact that anyone who visits the kids at sphoorti can feel and experience..The kids have great ability of group dynamism among themselves...they were competitive yet cordial to each other. We have recently conducted "Festival of Sports" at Sphoorti. The event turned out to be a huge success, thanks to Srivyal for allowing us to do so. He is a man of simplicity and believes in what he does...and does what he believes in. I know him hardly for a month and a half now, I could easily gage that he is a very determined and committed soul.

I loved intereacting with kids and had great fun playing with kids. It is so much fun to see kids play and compete with each other. Appreciate Srivyal's efforts, courage and determination towards sphoorti. I am sure kids will have great future and I wish Sphoorti great times ahead. More competetions to prevail from our end:)

When I first heard about the Sphoorthi foundation, I could not really believe that somebody
can do such selfless service in today's world. Then I decided to visit them in my next India trip
and was fortunate to be able to visit Sphoorthi, Srivyal garu and all the kids in January 2011.
I was really amazed the way the foundation is being managed.
Srivyal garu and hs staff are doing a highly commendable job in taking care of almost 120 kids.

I went there along with my uncle, a retired professor from Osmania. When we walked in,
all the girls surrounded us, introduced themselves and took us for a tourof building. We saw theirrooms,
library and computer lab as well. The rooms were kept clean and the children were looking happy and healthy.
They are all being sent to a good private school in the area. I got a chance to visit their dining area
which was also being maintained very well.
All the kids looked very desciplined and most of them are learning various extra curricular activities as well.

Every single penny of the donations is being used genuinely towards create a great future for the kids.
I was totally amazed with Srivyl garu's positive attitude and will power in managing the foundation
in spite of many minor and major issues he has to face on daily basis.
I will be very glad to extend any kind of support I can to Shpoorthi foundation.
May God bless them.

“Hello, is it Mr. Srivyal?”

“Yes.”

“Sir, me and my sister would like to visit you tomorrow. If its okay with you..we want to bring some chocolates for the kids.”

“That's okay. Come after 4, the kids are back from school then...and please bring fruits...more healthy. Children receiving a lot of sweets and chocolates nowadays..not good for them.”

“Sure sir, do you need anything else? How about sports equipment, books and the like?”

“No, please first come and see the organization. You can give anything you like if you like what we are doing.”

“That's great...now regarding the directions...”

...

I must say I was quite impressed with my first conversation with Srivyal Vuyyuri, the founder of Sphoorti, a Hyderabad based organization that works for the rehabilitation of children that come from extremely poor and backward sections of the society. Left to themselves, most of these kids would never have had a future. Thankfully, that is not the case.

Couple of hours later, we were zooming through the outskirts of Hyderabad with two large boxes of oranges and a bag of guavas for the kids. After about forty minutes, we were outside a two-storey house with about fifty kids sitting in the compound chattering away. The kids looked like one big happy family and as soon we stepped in, almost all at once the kids approached us shaking our hands saying “Hello anna. Hello akka. My name is so-and-so. how are you?”. I quite felt like a film star! After such a warm welcome, I hung back observing the kids and the surroundings while my sister, always the more boisterous one, immediately engaged the kids. Some of the kids came forward and sang for us while some danced. I was pleasantly surprised more so because I used to think that orphanages would be gloomy places whereas the camaraderie and the jovial bonhomie these kids had, all pointed to a good upbringing courtesy of Sphoorti.

I was also fascinated by the Srivyal's story who, from what I could gather, had returned from the US to set up this organization in 2006 and now works for it full time. Starting from almost nothing, the organization now houses more than 100 kids and provides them with all the things one would expect to find in a good middle class family upbringing - good food, clothes, education and most importantly a sense of identity and self respect.

“When we started, we used to accept old clothes for the kids, but not anymore”, Srivyal said.
“Why not?”, I asked.
“Its a matter of pride for the kids. It will hurt their self worth if they think they are wearing someone’s used clothes..”. He continued, “We are not a charity. We are a cause. While charities sometimes lose sight of the end goal and get entangled in the web of money and donations, we realize that the main focus should always be the kids.”

And how that focus on the kids shows, I thought, as I saw some of the kids dance happily to the beats of a song from the latest telugu movie. Later as we took a tour of the house, I was happy to note a fully equipped library, computer lab and sports equipment among many other facilities.

Today, it costs approximately $400 (~ 18,000 INR) per annum to house, educate, buy uniforms, do medical check ups etc for each kid. Thankfully Sphoorti has been well supported until now by its network of dedicated donors. But to grow it needs a good word of mouth and as such I would request you to spread the message about this organization. And true to the spirit of Sphoorti, I will not request you for a donation, but for you to pay a visit to it if you are ever in Hyderabad, and convince yourself of the value of its work. And as Srivyal himself says, “What we seek are not just donations, but an involvement, by way of a relationship, by way of a partnership stake in the future of these kids”.

I have just completed an academic year in India, funded by a research grant from the United States in the field of education. The Sphoorti Foundation was my principal location of field work, giving me a wonderful excuse to visit at least once a week over the past 9 months. I discovered an incredible opportunity at the Sphoorti Foundation, just as each child does - the chance to learn in a supportive environment. Any project I wanted to try out this year came through Sphoorti first, to be invariably greeted with official approval, whatever assistance and materials I might ask for, and the unfailing enthusiasm and curiosity of the students. These children, receiving all the good food, education, healthcare, and affection that the staff at Sphoorti can feed them, return all these gifts with an intense affection towards each other, visitors, and even their studies. I believe they are poised to succeed as students and as human beings. I am delighted to watch them do it and to help wherever I can.

I went with my colleagues to donate some chocolates to the kids at Sphoorthi. On entering the place, the discipline among the kids and their unity surprised me. I was taken aback by their sweetness and innocence in their eyes. I have seen several organisations which accept blankets and clothes which are used but this organisation doesnt. It is a big thing for me as a donor. The receptor like us is a human and when we do not wear used clothes why should these innocent kids who were what they were in the hands of fate. I will always remember this point of Srivyal of never distributing used clothes/ utensils. We are lucky, indeed! I am sure the kids will have a great life here with the mentors they have. I had always been skeptical about donating money to some organization in a far and corrupted country like India. Though I know there are so many people out there who, desperately need help, how do I know if it is going to the right hands or not? So, I decided to check the place first before sending my hard earned money. I visited Spoorthi in Dec06.There were around 30 kids and the building was still in progress by then. Srivyal (founder and caretaker of Spoorthi) took me around the campus (though not huge, decent enough). They have everything the kids needed from school bags, desktop computer in the play area to loving caretakers and clean restrooms. They had kids from 4 to 12 year ages, all of them go to a English medium school (most of the orphanages/children homes in India do not have this facility. They either get home-tutored or end up in a local school). Spoorthi also has monthly health checkups and vaccinations for the kids. I highly recommend this charity.

There are many NGOs in every nook and corner of Hyderabad. Then why would anyone want to go to an extreme end of the city to see how an NGO in Hyd works or what these kids in a particular non-profit are getting to do differently? The answer is- Everything about Sphoorti is different! When you enter Sphoorti, the kids welcome you with such warmth and happiness, that you cant stop smiling. They want you to sing and dance with them. They are not interested in what you give them to eat, rather they want something to sit and study! Polite and very friendly, the kids stay in secure premises and food is nutritious and healthy, rather than being just stomach-filling! The last time I had been to Sphoorti, I had taken my brother along with me,someone who cliams to hate kids! It was unbelievable to see him smiling and playing with the kids there, some of them fighting to sit in his lap!!! Sphoorti is built on love, Hope and kindness, and runs on the basis of education and discipline, something that most other NGOs lack! Its Srivyal's academic background that brings in this value system at Sphoorti. Its undenaible that he could have done a 9-5 job and been jsut one of us, but the fact that he did not, and instead chose to work right from the grassroots level, is what makes me appreciate him deeply! All the people associated with this organization that I have come in touch with, are very very kind and are working towards builiding a good future for these children in a wholistic manner and thats what makes me want to go back to Sphoorti again and again!!

Our visit to Sphoorti is one of the happiest days in my life… We went to Sphoorti around 3pm… Most of the kids were meditating when we reached there…We got a warm welcome from other kids… There was a guy who was teaching them the meditation…After the meditation, the kids played some children games which involved a good message…and the guy who was teaching them explained the kids what good was there in those games and how to behave in life etc…. We bought some chocolates for the kids. Some people from CVSR college of Engineering also brought them some chocolates and biscuits…There was a girl called Jyoti…it was her birthday..We celebrated her b’day by distributing the chocolates to all the children….After the distribution of the chocolates and biscuits, the kids went to play…some kids played cricket…some caroms…some Ko-Ko …etc..We wanted to play cricket with them…but it was very late and so we withdraw that thought…may be we will do it next time when we go there… The kids are good at everything from studies to games, respecting elders etc..When we asked them how they feel at Sphoorti, all the kids said that they feel much happier at Sphoorti than at home… The kids don’t need just money…They need people who love them…who cares for them…who can give them some moral support..It’s not the money only that we can donate…We can go and spend some time with them… I can understand that we all are so busy with what we are now and we hardly have time to think about something like this, but at least we can encourage someone doing it.. We talked to Srivyal, Founder of Sphoorti, about the facilities there…They were going to start a new building and planning to start a school when they have considerable number of kids.. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Sphoorti and I can guarantee you that you will forget all your worries when u go and spend some time with those kids at Sphoorti… You can have a look at the photos we took on that day…

I was one of the few lucky persons to be introduced to Sphoorti Foundation. It was a memorable experience for me to visit the foundation and I was surprised to see the energy levels of all the kids. I wish the team of Sphoorti all the Best in all the endeavors. We are always there for the Foundation to transform the Kids into the Future leaders.

Srivyal started spoorti on a very strong foundation and a very idealistic approach. I knew srivyal through a friends' friend and am proud to be in the company of this student of Ohio has left a comfy job and went miles beyond the average American dream to pursue such a highly regarded, entrepreneurial career in public service. I must say I am also surprised by how much support, admiration and love Srivyal has gathered behind his movement to transform the lives of dommara girls. I hope he continues to challenge himself by setting very high standards for Sphoorti and, in doing so, radically transforms the lives of challenged communities all over Andhra Pradesh (& India).

My experience with really good.I felt very happy to see the kids who are very enthusiastic and active. I felt very warm and welcoming, being with them and playing with them. This organisation is doing a really good job in rehabilitate and provide good education and healthy food for the underprivileged children. I wish they have more funds to cater to more such children who lack the required resources to study and be better citizens.I wish and expect more people to come forward to support this organisation.

It is one of the rarest non profit organizations that truly works towards welfare of the kids. I have seen children suffering with malnutrition who were adopted by this foundation and later became healthy as they are provided with proper nutritional food. The foundation called upon a nutritionist to prepare the weekly menu that is strictly followed. I have personally seen children becoming healthy, sportive, confident, improving upon their creative skills after being adopted by Sphoorti.
