Mission: SNAP offers people with disabilties opportunities to participate in life-enhancing musical activities. Our programs celebrate each person''s unique abilities, cultivate creative expression, build peer relationships, and enhance self-esteem. Participants share their gifts of spirit and song and gain a sense of inclusion through mutually rewarding community performances.
Programs: Special Musicians is a program of weekly classes for children 3 to 10 years of age. Enjoyable musical activities are designed to promote the development of language, motor, and social skills.Sing Along Chorus is a mainstreamed chorus for teens and young adults, and Sing Along Singers is a mainstreamed chorus for adults.Each chorus has about 30 members who meet for weekly rehearsals, which include time for socializing and refreshments. Community outreach activities by the choruses have included performances at hospitals and nursing homes and at SNAF's annual fund-raising concert. Other special events include an annual pizza night, a talent show, a potluck supper with families, a sing-along with Lexington's senior citizen chorus, and an ice cream sundae festival. No musical skill or ability is required for participation. All programs are wheelchair accessible. They are held in Lexington, MA and are open to residents of Boston-area communities.
