Mission: Shanti foundation for peace is a non-profit art organization that fosterspeace, nonviolence and social justice through engagement in the arts.
Programs: Family and community programartists worked with community groups to facilitatecommunity art endeavors. The objective is to buildcommunity and break down barriers which contribute to acycle of violence and to promote a culture of inclusion,dialogue and peace.
social justice programartists worked with youth at 2 elementaryschools. There were 15 sessions per school and about 50total students. Teachers utilized many art forms to teachsocial justice concepts.
public school program- heroes present and future programs were conducted in 15 schools. Artist workedteachers over an average of 15 weeks. Peacemaking skillswere taught in fifteen 80 minute sessions. Many art formswere used in the program including story telling,photography, theater, creative writing, mural making,dance and bookmarking. Programs culminated inperformances and exhibitions at each school involving over750 students.
