Causes: Mental Health, Sexual Assault Services
Mission: To support survivors of sexual assault, their families and friends, and to help eradicate sexual violence. The services offered include crisis & support lines, support groups, school-based education, sexual assault response team and community training & speaking.
Programs: Support & advocacy services include a 24 hour crisis & support line; advocacy for victims going through the criminal justice system; support groups for survivors of sexual assault and child sexual abuse; drop-in support groups for incarcerated women; drop-in support groups for homeless women; and drop-in groups for homeless and street involved youth. 2,251 calls were made to the crisis and support line; 600 clients received direct services with 102 support group participants and 202 outreach participants.
education and prevention services include school-based programs for k-12, post-secondary schools, professional training, outreach, and awareness programs for civic groups and local businesses. The total number of participants in our education and awareness program was 6,182 students and 280 participants.
the children's advocacy center of york county provides a safe, neutral, and child-centered place for coordinated forensic interviews of children following an allegation of sexual abuse. Services include non-leading, child-friendly, legally sound forensic interviews; advocacy and support for the child and their families; a neutral space for the mdt to freely communicate and collaborate on investigations before, during, and after interviews; and seamless referrals to various health and medical organizations.
