Programs: Skill building assistance consists of activities that increase an individual's economic self sufficiency and/or engages an individual in meaningful activities such as school, work, and volunteering. The activities may be provided in a production setting, community setting, or in the home. The program provides knowledge and specialized skill development. The outcomes are for the participant to become job ready and know how to keep a job once it's obtained. Step served over 1,500 people throughout the year and provided over 768,000 hours of skill building services to our clients in our fiscal year. Our clients reported 99% satisfaction with community based skill building activities.
supports coordination provides a full array of support in accordance with the person-centered planning process. Participants have a wide range of mental health needs. We provide services in a variety of work and residential settings. The program objective is to work with families, care providers, and natural supports to coordinate care. We also assist with all matters of entitlements, including social security, medicaid, ssi, medicare, home help services, section 8 housing, and bridge cards. Many of the persons served are participants in the skill building and supported employment programs. Step provided supports coordination to more than 565 clients. Of those, 98% reported that they had resolved a major life issue. Step clients also expressed 99% satisfaction with services.
supported employment provides support and services to obtain and maintain community paid employment in integrated work settings. We help find employment that matches an individual's interests, abilities, and experience. Participants are employed in many industries, including retail, janitorial, food services, hotels, animal care, and retirement communities. We assist in the creation of an employment plan, resume preparation, and job development. Step clients worked more than 160,000 hours in an integrated setting during the year. We had 85 individuals who found independent employment during the year. Of these, 100% reported satisfaction with his or her job and 74% maintained employment for more than 90 days.
