Dr. George Patrin, Army Pediatrician, retired in 2011 after serving for over 23 years. His last military assignment was to write the plan for and implement patient-family centered healthcare delivery within DoD Patient-Centered Medical Home Clinics. He is a grief mentor through the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) after surviving the suicide of his youngest son at 20 years of age in 2009. On retiring, he founded Serendipity Alliance, an integrated multidisciplinary group of researchers and consultant trainers searching out the best healthcare delivery methods to eliminate suicide as a common scenario in our society, especially among Veterans and their family members. They are intent on “giving a voice to the voiceless, breaking the silence by listening to survivors," shining a light on victimization and abuse in military and civilian environments.
