Review for Trauma and Resiliency Resources, Inc., Callicoon, NY, USA

Rating: 5 stars

As a DoD-Army Physician Soldier for over 23 years I am so grateful to have been able to attend the TRR Camp as a Warrior. I've been so intense in caring for Service Members and their Families that Moral Injury defenses I built up over a lifetime were never addressed. Thanks to Eva and her exceptional Team for recognizing this. It was so good to feel what a "Band of Brothers (and Sisters)" really feels like after 33+ years! The program enables us to give ourselves Permission to dissolve defensive mechanisms and misplaced image of self, address Regret, and Release that negative energy, replacing it with positive self images in Recovery. The integrated Yoga, EMDR, Horse Equine Therapy, Community Cultural Awareness, Medical Narrative Work, and shared Introspective Walks, not mention Communal Meals, combined to bring me to a beautiful new level of awareness releasing internalized trauma. If only this had happened at least 30 years ago... but it's never too late! Would that all Service Members could experience this kind of holistic wrap-around program before they transition to civilian life. I strongly recommend all Veterans be offered this opportunity to enable the Spiritual Awakening we all need after faithfully serving our country!

If I had to make changes to this organization, I would...

Add a follow-up session that included "Family" Members.

Review for SERENDIPITY ALLIANCE, San Antonio, TX, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Dr. George Patrin, Army Pediatrician, retired in 2011 after serving for over 23 years. His last military assignment was to write the plan for and implement patient-family centered healthcare delivery within DoD Patient-Centered Medical Home Clinics. He is a grief mentor through the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) after surviving the suicide of his youngest son at 20 years of age in 2009. On retiring, he founded Serendipity Alliance, an integrated multidisciplinary group of researchers and consultant trainers searching out the best healthcare delivery methods to eliminate suicide as a common scenario in our society, especially among Veterans and their family members. They are intent on “giving a voice to the voiceless, breaking the silence by listening to survivors," shining a light on victimization and abuse in military and civilian environments.

Review for IMALIVE, Chester, MD, USA

Rating: 5 stars

Reese Butler has persisted over the years in developing the first virtual chat crisis line with trained, certified volunteers. He is an innovator and led this country in establishing the need for crisis line networks within a National Suicide Prevention Plan. The Kristin Brooks Hope Center goes to colleges conducting on-site educational sessions for suicide prevention. A new initiative is underway to open the first Transition Assistance Center for homeless women Veterans in Queen Anne County, MD. In short, the KBHC and IMALIVE Chat Line is a model for persistence in saving lives.
