Mission: Orlando city youth soccer's mission is to promote youth soccer in florida and provide soccer programs to the youth by implementing the core strategies of professional development, skill building and teamwork, training, coaching education, and parental support and guidance.
Programs: Oc tournaments orlando city youth soccer offers three (3) tournaments annually. In the 2016-17 season, 314 teams participated in these tournaments of which 7 different states were represented. While this represented a decrease from the previous year, hurricane matthew impacted the columbus day weekend tournament (the cup) causing a postponement to the jr. Pro tournament weekend. The jr. Pro invitational and columbus day cup combined for 258 teams which is the largest tournament to date.
the academy - jr boys & girls and sr boys & girls orlando city youth is florida's leading program for developing players from 8-18 years of age. Over 900 players participate in the academy program. Orlando city is the only club in florida to offer both us soccer development academy program and the ecnl program. All players are coached in the orlando city system and philosophy of play by professional coaches, and receive a minimum of two hours a week of training and a game. Players submit for tryouts at the beginning of the season and are placed on teams. The goal of the academy is to develop players and give them the best chance of continuing their soccer career in collegiate programs. In 2016-17 orlando city youth placed 37 players into collegiate programs. The ecnl program placed 3 teams into the national tournament for the first time. The u13 girls team won the florida state cup, a cup competition entered by all teams in the state to determine a champion. The u13 girls team represented the club and stat at the national finals.
little lions little lions is the first step in the orlando city youth soccer pyramid and an introduction to the beautiful game. For children with birth years 2010- 2013, it focuses on teaching the basics in a fun and safe environment. The programs run seasonally for an 8 week period. In 2016-17 the little lions program ventured into private schools. During this year we worked with seminole county public schools, as well as private schools to offer the little lion program on site at their facility. Total registrations for this year was 1687, which was an increase of 12% from the prior year.
striker school orlando city youth striker school is a training program for strikers to improve their technical skills and tactical understanding while developing proper training habits. The program is open to all academy players aged 11 -18 years of age. Paul shaw, the former arsenal fc player, is the lead coach of the program. This is designed to develop existing players who play in the position of striker/forward and to sharpen their technique and skills. Goal keeping orlando city youth goalkeeping academy is designed for players who want to specialize in the position of goalkeeper. This program serves as a supplemental program to the academy & ecnl programs. Older goalkeepers mentor younger goalkeepers as part of their development. This mentorship opportunity facilitates the learning process for the older goalkeepers. Over 150 goalkeepers have benefited from the goalkeeper academy. Ecnl orlando city youth soccer is the only ecnl member club in the state of florida. The ecnl's mission is to improve the competitive environment through creation of a true national competitive league with multiple flights. Improving the process for identifying elite female soccer players for the u. S. Soccer youth national teams through a systematic scouting and identification program based on national competitions; and improving the daily training environment at top female youth soccer clubs through developing best practices and training and organizational guidelines for its member clubs. Orlando city youth, as a member club, provides access to this league for girls aged 14-18. Orlando city youth is ranked as a top 25 ecnl club (out of 79). One of the goals of the ecnl program is to develop national level players. Orlando city has placed several players into youth national training camps.
