Mission: The mission of of the organization is to assist in the empowerment of survivors through: counseling, a 24-hour crisis network, medical, legal and system advocacy. The organization is also committed to changing attitudes that foster and perpetuate violence. The organization provides serices to: deaf survivors, deaf-blind survivors, and hard-of-hearing survivors.
Programs: 1) february 2014: sego lily provided a unique workshop for lgbtq therapists about how to effectively treat deaf victims and clients. 2) february 2014: sego lily hosted its first vagina monologues event at the university of utah with the utah association of the deaf. 3) february 2014: sego lily hosted its 4th annual sweetheart challenge workshop/activity in st. George, utah. 4) march 2014: sego lily provided several trainings to vrsii interpreters at sorenson communications, a corporation that provides relay interpreting services and products, to help them better serve deaf and hard of hearing victims of abuse. 5) march 2014: sego lily partnered with the ioti grantee to the tooele police department, training them on how to provide accessible and effective services to deaf victims using law enforcement services. 6) spring 2014: sego lily provided monthly support group discussion to deaf teenagers in the transitional program at the utah schools of the deaf. Topics included dating violence, self esteem and where to go for help if they are being abused. 7) sego lily began the survivor sponsorship program where survivors are assigned one sponsor to provide day to day support instead of attending support groups to maintain their privacy. 8) july 2014: sego lily was accepted to the advocacy learning center program for its 18 month course. This program's goal is to strengthen the core activities, skills, principles, and knowledge used by advocates working in all areas of violence against women while reshaping and revitalizing advocacy programs to improve response to women and survivors seeking assistance. 9) august/september 2014: sego lily partnered with dove a deaf dv/sa agency in colorado to host the first annual deaf survivors' retreat in aspen, colorado. The aspen camp for the deaf provided space and staff to provide survivors the time and place to heal from the abuse. Deaf survivors reported this retreat to be successful and requested that it become an annual event. 10) october 2014: sego lily hosted its first annual purple tie gala fundraiser which raised 18,000. This will be an annual event.
