Mission: The stillborn still loved guild was founded in 2011 to support seattle children's hospital (a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt hospital) by raising awareness and funds for the global alliance for the prevention of prematurity and stillbirth (gapps) fund. Our mission is to honor the lives of stillborn babies through advocacy, awareness, and support.
Programs: The stillborn still loved guild is a member of the seattle children's hospital guild association, a tax-exempt fundraising entity of seattle children's hospital. The hospital provides pediatric patient care, medical research, teaching of pediatric residents and other healthcare providers, as well as advocacy for children in the pacific northwest. In 2013, the guild held a swirl and sip event to raise funds for gapps. It was a great evening with food, wine tasting, an auction, and a heartflet program that included a patient story and a chance to hear from one of the gapps program doctors. During the year, the guild was also able to support the gapps program through outreach and educational efforts related to stillbirth. In an effort to educate the medical community on how to care for grieving families, guild members had the opportunity to participate on a parent panel and speak to obstetrical residents and fellows at the university of washington medical school, where the topic of stillbirth was incorporated into the obstetrical curriculum for the first time.
