Mission: The miracle house guild was founded in 2000 to support seattle children's hospital (a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt hospital) by raising awareness and funds primarily for the uncompensated care program. "the miracle house," a name coined for the hospital by faithful supporter and storyteller phil smart, sr. , was a name given to the guild as recognition of its unique history. The guild was created in response to a diverse group of strangers from all over greater king and pierce counties who expressed an interest in guild membership, but who did not have a specific link to an existing guild. Now a strong and growing group of friends, they continue to share a common bond of deep devotion to supporting seattle children's hospital to ensure that the children of the northwest have the best possible healthcare available to them regardless of their ability to pay.
Programs: The miracle house guild is a member of the seattle children's hospital guild association, a tax-exempt fundraising entity of seattle children's hospital. The hospital provides pediatric patient care, medical research, teaching of pediatric residents and other healthcare providers, as well as advocacy for children in the pacific northwest. In fiscal year 2017 the miracle house guild held its 16th annual "where miracles take flight" auction, which raised funds primarily benefiting the uncompensated care program of the hospital. These funds fulfill the guild's mission by providing financial assistance to patients based upon family need and hospital resources.
