Causes: Community Improvement & Capacity Building, Education, Educational Services
Mission: Advancing education in sierra leone through quality in-country partnerhips.
Programs: Construction: constructed a new school in sulehun village (our 22nd school). Added rainwater collection handwashing stations to all our school latrines. Installed solar lights in 4 schools and and distributed 20 solar study lights to our school communities.
education: sponsored a librarian training workshop with rise network for 31 teachers across sierra leone. Held literacy trainings for 10 teachers in the north and piloted a teacher-training-teachers workshop with 8 teachers in the western area. Sponsored 20 teachers to pursue their teaching certificates. Sponsored remedial reading club programs with the learning foundation in 3 freetown area schools for 80 students. Distributed 2,000 books to our new library (constructed in 2016) in mamboma and 2,000 early phonics books at our teacher trainings. Provided 58 student scholarships. Supplied learning materials every term to all 22 schools we've built.
reproductive health: produced and distributed over 2,500 menstruation kits for girls and women in our school communities. Conducted reproductive health education with students in our schools.
