Over 500 children every year take summer art camps, spring break camps and after school artrageous art classes at the museum and four other satellite locations. Nearly 300 adults every year attend the workshops and classes taught by talented, respected artists who have earned the appreciation and affection of their students. The museum also offers monthly documentary art films, art talks and docent led art trips throughout the year and sponsors dedicated artist groups that meet regularly to share ideas, experiences and artistic adventures.

The museum of art sponsors and helped to produce and promote the second annual slo mini maker faire. This is a free, family-friendly, one-day event in may that filled the mission plaza with people of all ages enjoying the creativity and innovation of the makers. The event offered fun, educational, and intergenerational activities for the entire family. The museum also collaborates with the area's non-profit organizations by lending their venue and/or expertise for the benefit of the greater community.
