Causes: Centers to Support the Independence of Specific Populations, Human Services
Mission: To acquire and distribute medicine, medical supplies, equipment and health services to the people of rio san juan, nicaragua and the surrounding area.
Programs: In january 2014, the organization assisted in providing medical supplies to a team of volunteers who performed an eye care mission in the village of boca de sabalos . During the mission they examined 898 patients and distributed 765 pair of prescription eye glasses and 524 pair of sunglasses. Also in january 2014, and in conjunction with santa rosa sunrise rotary club, 16 volunteers held an eye and dental mission in the village of esperanza. The dental team examined 227 patients, doing 242 extractions and 127 fillings and the eye care team examined 1,041 patients, dispensed 656 prescription eye glasses and 745 pairs of sunglasses. In march 2014, a volunteer medical team traveled in tandem with a volunteer dental team to the remote village of buena vista and saw more than 1,000 patients. In july 2014, in conjunction with st. Mark lutheran church, volunteers held an optical mission in the village of los chiles where the group examined about 715 people, dispensed over 600 pairs of prescription eye glasses along with 400+ sunglasses.
