Causes: Environment, Natural Resources Conservation & Protection
Mission: San juan resource conservation and development council, inc. 's mission is to protect and improve the natural, cultural, historic and economic resources of the eight county area of southwest colorado.
Programs: The animas water project was awarded two bureau of reclamation watersmart grants to continue on the ground work in new mexico and water quality evaluations along the florida river. Durango mountain camp provided scholarships to disadvangaged kids with adhd. Thrive educated la plata county residents and businesses about the need for a living wage and held a 'dine out durango' event to raise awaremeness about providing a living wage. Weather mod helped improve snow pack by seeding clouds. The first nations pollination project received grants to continue to support ecomonic grouth, health and well-being and cultures within the first nations. Montezuma orchard restoration project continued to work towards preserving fruit-growing heritage and restoration of the orchard culture and economy in the region. Southwest basin roundtable contractors conducted three workshops aimed at implementing and educating the public on components of the basin implementation plan and colorado water plan.
