The Durango Botanical Society is committed to the development of public gardens in Durango CO. To that end they have recently completed an exemplary example of an Alpine Crevice and Garden and a Miniature Conifer Gabbro garden. Both gardens are a delight to see with well over 600 hundred plants growing. They have been selected as on of the main rock gardens to visit by The North American Rock Garden Society. These two new gardens and their existing Plant Select Demonstration Garden are well worth the visit.
The Botanical Society has a beautiful public library garden and a great docent program. If you love plants and gardening, you will love being involved as a docent, volunteer, or attending a workshop. I have been leading garden tour for two seasons, and have learned so much about plants that grow well here.
