Mission: Endowment is extremely important to San Diego Opera and is absolutely vital for the artistic growth and integrity of an art form such as opera. Endowment income ensures the Opera's financial stability and allows reliable fiscal planning which in turn permits repertoire to be set and artists engaged over the long time frame needed in this field. The supplemental financing also affords engagement of artists whose demand may otherwise put them out of San Diego Opera's reach. But most significantly, endowment funds enable the Company to fulfill its mission by presenting first-class productions, including works from outside the standard repertoire.
