Mission: The mission of the council is to unite the community to support literacy through leadership, advocacy, and resources. The council provides services that improve quality of life by enhancing the basic reading, writing, and math skills of those individuals who perform at the lowest level of literacy.
Programs: The council provided support to 27 literacy service programs in san diego region by increasing resources for literacy programs expanding access to literacy services providing coordination of services among diverse literacy service programs spreading best practices to educators, literacy program personnel and tutors ensuring accountability that supports instruction and engages the community in literacy solutions and keeping literacy visible as essential to healthy families, communities, and businesses.
