I want to say Thank You ALL for the support and assistance given this past month to help ease the financial burden my family has been going through since retiring from the Navy.  After retiring 31 JAN 2024, after 24 and a half years of Honorable active duty service with 13 years 6 months and 9 days of sea time; 11 deployments with 5 being combat and in support of OIF/OEF. 

Jodi - Your compassion, empathy and attention to detail was very impressive and follow-up with calls and emails helped to alleviate a tremendous amount of stress and burden that me and my family has endured since retiring in January 2024.  The financial counseling gave me further tools needed to excel and to continue to come out of this hardship and all the tools that Salute gave me will be utilized for my family and I. 

Thank you Salute for the hand up! I greatly appreciate the service, support, resources and funds given to cover our living expenses.  I will not forget the good deeds and my mind has been put into a positive place knowing there is support out there when you reach out.  Because of Salute, I remain hopeful and I'm grateful that nonprofits such as SALUTE exist to help Veterans and their Family in the time of need.

I’m eternally grateful for salute inc. I am a medically retired veteran and I had a rough couple months with mental health and financial hardship. I was able to get financial assistance from salute and that helped me a lot. I appreciate how resourceful and empathetic the program is. They truly appreciate their service members and do whatever they can to provide assistance.

I reached out to Salute, INC with an urgent issue and Salute, Inc. assisted me with the rent payment for the month. Frank was my counselor and he communicated step-by-step what the process would be.

I am a retired Navy veteran in the Norfolk Virginia area. My Hyundai sonata has been stolen twice which has put me in very uncomfortable position. I have reached out to Salute INC. for help they have tremendously help me and they even go above and beyond to reach out to the shop to help get may car fixed. Salute Inc. answered a prayer for us this month. After my wife lost her job due to an injury things have been extremely difficult. With Salute Inc. covering a big bill for this month we were able to get back on track and feel a little less stressed. SALUTE,INC. helped me personally get caught up with a mortgage payment that was accruing astronomical late charges every month I didn't pay it. I lived only on disability at the time trying to do my best but I eventually had to pick up work again all while trying to go to doctors appointments and manage my injuries.

Finally, everything came to a head recently as I couldn't catch up on the payment. My amazing caseworker I was working with at Home Base in Boston recommended SALUTE, INC. just to see if I could get some form of financial help to take the pressure off. I submitted all the requested documentation and got a call within days that the organization would take care of my only late payment but also those crazy late fees. I about lost it when I spoke to Ms. Tina.

Every single penny that has been donated to help Veterans like me has been absolutely worth the time and effort to raise. To the sponsors, donors, staff and volunteers...thank you. Thank you for every ounce of energy you all put into this organization and mission. I am now blessed to be the recipient of something I can never repay, however, I sure as hell will share your mission with those who just might need you. Thank you for saving my ass and helping clear the air in my head and heart so that I can rest easier knowing my home can always be a safe place for everyone and never on the chopping block of bankers! I lost my job recently due to surgery with my back and having limitations. I wasn’t able to perform my duties and it’s still making it difficult to find a job that accommodates to my needs within the given skill traits I have acquired. I was in a rough patch dealing with bills falling behind as I was missing work from surgery plus losing my job after. I was so stressed out with bills and having to make sure my family survives. It got so bad to the point where I needed to contact veterans crisis line. I sat in my truck for two hours that day. When my social worker from the VA called and was informed of my situation, she contacted salute and put in the request for me, afterwards, within 3 business days, a representative from salute named Frank B. took care of my family and helped with my bills to cover us until I can find another job, thank you salute for your help really!

I was afraid and scared. I thought I was one step away from being out on the streets, but I had a friend who is also a veteran. He said, ‘Hey, I was in the same seat you were sitting in.’ He said he had a resource that I could reach out to for help. When I finally put my pride to the side and actually applied for help, I got the assistance I needed and resolved the issue. Salute Inc provided a service for me, a veteran, that I had never experienced in my life. It truly opened my heart and mind to asking for help in my journey. I don’t have to worry about being out on the streets now, nor do I have to worry about sleeping on the road.

I'm very grateful and a Big Thank You to all who support.

I am a retired U.S. Navy Veteran living in Hawaii with my spouse and two children. One child is in college full time and one is a student in elementary school. Due to the rising costs of products and costs of living our family fell on difficult times during various COVID outbreaks that prevented us from working and bringing in sufficient income needed to pay our housing mortgage. After consultation with a VA counselor who referred me to Salute Inc. I worked with a professional and tentative Salute Inc case manager to request and receive some assistance in stabilizing our housing situation. This person was responsive and timely in their support. My family is truly grateful for all levels of support that this organization provides to our Veterans and we hope to return the favor in the future. I hope this review is helpful to others and I wish to express that there should be no shame in asking for assistance to take care of one's self and their families.

I sought out Salute inc last year around Xmas time because my family hit a hard spot in life. I was going through divorce, was having to find a babysitter that I had to pay out of pocket for, and was taking care of my kids full-time while working full-time. I exhausted all options on my own get help with the military but to no avail. Salute Inc came in and offered some help that helped me buy some time with bills and get through a tough spot. We're not out of the woods yet but we are definitely better off than we would have been if we didn't seek their help. As a parent I often have to make hard decisions and consider what is best for my kids first. Sometimes it means asking for help and I'm glad Salute Inc was there to answer the call. I plan on paying back once I can get better established, because I believe in returning what is owed even if it wasn't asked, and because someone else like me will need the aid as well. Salute Inc does great work so why not continue to let them?

My family and I want to personally thank you for helping us in our time of need. We were in need of assistance and you came through for us. Coming back from deployment was and is difficult for us. Although this was our 4th deployment, it was the most taxing for my family. Coming off deployment with a back injury, loss of vision, high blood pressure, and hip injuries was not how I expected to return to my family. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to see a light at the end of the tunnel. Again, thank you for your assistance and kindness shown to us.

The professional staff help me and my family at a difficult time. Being I had to go to intense outpatient care because of my PTSD and TBI my finical responsible got behind. After serving over twenty years in the military and retiring my mental health needed to be addressed. The finical help was very much apricated. Not only the help but also getting ways to assist me so it doesn't happen in the future. For the people who are able to help this nonprofit they really go above and beyond for people like me. Giving 5 stars because we are beyond grateful for the assistance. My husband is a disabled veteran and I am a stay at home mom. My husband’s hours at work were cut down and we needed help paying our rent for the month. Frank was extremely nice and helpful. I do wish communication was better but I understand these are volunteers. Our rent for the month of May was paid for us to our property manager. Hello I am a OIF/OEF retired solider who got injured in combat. I had been in 3 impatient programs dealing with my TBI an PTSD. While in treatment I was going thru a really tough time an also worrying about my 3 kids an how they would be able to manage. The Salute Organization really helped me an my family out. They were also able to act in a really fast manner in which that meant everything to us. Mrs Tina an the Organization was truly a blessing. I will always think of you all in my heart an thanks for helping me get a second chance at life

With just a call and a brief story of my situation. This organization guided me thru their procedures and helped me immensely with what i was dealing with financially.

They were able to help with a debt I had that was preventing me from getting my own place and have helped clear that issue

Several months ago I was in a bad place and knew I needed help. I was referred to the Boston Red Sox Foundation, Home Base Program for veterans, who in turn, referred me to Salute, Inc. After my work at Home Base was complete, they submitted my application to Salute. Within a week I get a call from Tina S, who went over the details and the help Salute can provide. There just aren't enough stars to rate or words to express my gratitude the help that Tina, Sheilya and the entire Salute program has given me! Two amazing people, that I will likely never meet, helping a total stranger/veteran just shows the big hearts they have and the great character they each possess. I am forever grateful and humbled for the huge help Tina (who I worked with mostly), Sheilya and the entire Salute program has been to me. I hope this great organization for veterans continues to grow, succeed and excel and more veterans are made aware of it. I am a veteran who was wounded during the Iraq War. I suffer from back injury, headaches, and PTSD etc. Under these conditions, it is difficulty to find suitable work or maintain gainful employment that is responsive to my condition. Unfortunately, I fell back on my rent and worried about how I would pay it. Thanks to Salute, I was reminded that organizations and people do care and are willing to assist veterans in need. Mrs. Tina has worked closely on my case and reassured me no veteran will be left behind. Salute has restored my dignity by offering a generous donation towards my rent. Now, I am able to maintain my shelter while working with my treatment team towards recovery. Thank you guys. Happy Holidays!

Salute helped me in so many ways than one. As a veteran who's having a hard time finding employment they really helped me push through with helping me keep the lights on. Last year, I was hospitalized in Rush U hospital for about a month to address some combat inflect disability. Not surprisingly, my bills started to pile up during my hospitalization.

My husband,whose is a veteran, and I have been going through some financial hardship. He has been currently unemployed for more than 6 months. Only income coming in was from his disability and my employment. We had exhausted our savings and was starting to get behind on utilities, car notes, and other bills. With the guidance of a VA Social Worker who recommended Salute, Inc, we would have lost both vehicles. My name is Bridget. My sons name is Austin. Austin was 27 when his accident happened. We were in the hospital for two years. I worked for the government at the time and just got my ten years in. When Austin had his accident I quit my job to take care of him not knowing how we were going to pay our bills or anything else the most import at the time was getting Austin better and not sent to a group home where he would have not made it. When our mortage got behind Salute Inc. was there for us and helped us get back up on our feet. Austin has a sever TBI and I wanted more answers than the VA was giving me Salute Inc. was right there for me with getting him sent to see a specialist out of state they helped with the gas and room which I could not afford at the time. They were always there for me and checking to see if I needed anything along with support for me. Salute Inc has done so much form me and my son. They were there to get the ball rolling in the right direction to get Austin the help and care that he needed to help with his recovery. My son will never be normal again, Salute INC. was getting me answers that the VA just pushed us aside and made him a number. We could not have seceded this far with out the help of Salute Inc. Thank you so much for helping my son get on the road to recovery. The VA gave up on Austin so if it was not for non profits like Salute INC. my son would be just another number. I would never give up on him.

I am the psychologist in a crisis-focused intensive mental health treatment program in the Chicago VA system. My team and I regularly use Salute Inc to seek emergency assistance for our veteran clients, who present with a range of serious crises that truly require rapid intervention and support. I have consistently found Salute Inc to be a caring and reliable resource for these "wounded warriors". The staff are always efficient and supportive, and the process is extremely user-friendly, from initial application to disposition. My job would be a lot harder without this organization; Salute Inc consequently has a top spot in my virtual "rolodex"!

Salute is a wonderful organization run by dedicated caring individuals. The donations quickly reach those that need assistance. I am most impressed by the number of people they help with such a lean corporate staff. It's nice to be able to help those that have sacrificed so much to ensure our continued freedom.

I don't know exactly how to put into words how much Salute, Inc. means to my family. Shortly after my husband was wounded while on a mission overseas, I received a phone call from Salute saying that they'd like to help my family. With bills instantly piling up due to trips to the hospital, needing care for my children, etc. they were an answer to our prayers. The thing is that it wasn't about them paying a bill for us, it was their true dedication and sincerity that meant the most. After about 10-15 surgeries, my husband decided to step away from his military career and retire because he could no longer do the job he loved to do. It was an extremely scary decision, but we decided to move back home to Illinois and start this new chapter in our lives. Because we were moving to the same state that Salute is located, we have been able to give back to the organization that graciously gives to so many veterans. We've continued our relationship with Salute by helping to raise money for other families and speak about our story at events. They've been the calm in our storm and the link from military to civilian life for my family. Because of Salute, we're now able to pay it forward to so many who have sacrificed. Without Salute, moving would have been that much scarier but being around those who understand what we've been through feels like home. It's security. It's friendship. It's honor. If anyone is looking for an organization to donate to, please consider Salute, Inc. you won't regret it.

Salute Inc is more of a family then it is a nonprofit organization. I mean they are and they help out in so many different ways when other companies just look at you as the next number in a line of people to be helped. Salute Inc takes time to get to know you on an individual basis and find out what your needs really are and the best way to meet those needs to help you in the best way possible. They have helped me with getting my finances in order by providing a counselor to help figure out a budget and get control of my spending. Salute Inc has been so generous in that they almost every year for the past 4 years have given my daughter presents on Christmas through one of their programs. They donated me a laptop so that I could be more organized and help keep my schedule and life in order as well as keep in touch with people and my friends better. I am now trying to be a part of giving back and paying forward what they have given me by volunteering my time to kelp in anyway I can. I help with fundraising ideas and have helped by speaking about Salute Inc and the different ways they help veterans and their families and myself. They truly have compassion and passion for the people they help and the job they are doing. They really make you feel like they are on your side and will be there with you through the hard times and them help get you to better times. I don't think of Mary Beth and the staff as just "workers or volunteers" but more as my extended family. They go above and beyond in whatever way they can to help veterans and their families needs.

An extremely dedicated group of compassionate individuals run this organization. The Salute Group has made lasting impact on a great number of support recipients, volunteers, and donors. It's quite welcoming to know that the money given actually reaches the hands of those most in need! Salute Inc is a healthy non profit that actively assists our Vets "bridge the gap" until their VA benefits kick in. It is NOT a large bureaucratic non profit that engulfs a majority of the donations on it's own operating expenses.

As a current Board member of Salute, I witness first hand how the organization lives its mission on a daily basis through its staff and volunteers of passionately serving the needs of military service members. The Salute Team models a consistent purpose through their efforts to raise awareness of the increasing needs of veterans and provide support to those men and women who dedicated their lives for our freedom. I am honored to be part of the Salute volunteer team and contribute to the organization's efforts to assist those who have served our country.

I have not benefitted from this organization as I am not a Vet. I do however want to say that I know of what this organization does and how it truly affects the families and people it helps. I am in awe of the commitment of the founders and staff at Salute. They have 1 mission only TO HELP when they can. I wish we had more committed people in this country to help our vets. These men and women do provide us the very blanket of freedom we all sleep under each night. So many have given their lives for this country. My name is Rick Daitchman and I have been a Volunteer, fundraiser AND donor for SALUTE INC for the last 5 years. My experience with this organization has been nothing short of amazing as they strive to help our Military heroes reintegrate back into family life after their Service to our country.
The organization cuts through the "red tape" and bureaucracy of many other aid organizations and directly helps Military families on a day-to-day basis .... whether it's a mortgage payment, household expenses, employment aid, psychological aid or procurement of needed medical equipment; Salute is transparent and gets the job done on a timely basis - before other organizations are finished filling out needless forms!
I have personally seen the recipients of the aid that SALUTE provides and I am honored to be associated with this group!

My name is Jeremy Votaw and I served in the US Army from Jan 03 to Feb 06.In fall of 2004 I was wounded during a combat operation and spent my last years of service in and out of the hospital.After my service in the military I got a job back home.I worked there for about three years before my injuries and pain overcame my ability to perform my job.This is due to being shot multiple times in the left leg.The result of this injury,I suffer from arthritis in my back,both knees and in my hips.I also suffer from PTSD.When my wife and I heard about Salute,it couldn't have come at a better time.I was struggling with receiving my benifits and with my wife the only one working we got behind on our bills.Salute was able to help us not once but a couple of times!Of course that wasn't the end of our troubles.With a crippling economy my wife was let go due to cutbacks.I was yet to receive my benifits and we were looking at no light at the end of the tunnel.Salute once again was able to help us and got others in there network involved and gave our children a Christmas to remember.If not for Salute and their amazing staff,I don't know where my family would be.They were able to keep us afloat just as I started receiving my VA benifits.Salute asked for nothing in return other than this.....to please tell others like yourself about us so we may help them. None of their mission would be possible if it weren't for incredible people that not only volunenteer but also help through donations.For it all I'm truly grateful.Thank you Salute and thank you to the people who support their cause.You too are the wind beneath our wings.Thank you and God bless Salute.

This organization only helps vets in disability ratings above 70% and is not notated on their website but they do claim that they try to help veterans as much as they can but they cannot help me.

Salute is everything we'd like a non-profit organization to be! They are small and sensitive group, agile enough to be able to react quickly, focusing all of their time and energy on those they help.

Of course, everyone has a special place in their heart for needs they feel touch them most closely. Salute has chosen to do all they can to assist members of the U. S. military services, veterans, and their families. Members of our military have always been there for ALL Americans. So, Salute emphasis is on a more universal interest, not one concentrated on helping a more narrowly focused group.

Sometimes military personnel, veterans, or their families need assistance beyond what the government provides. I love the fact that Salute is there to step in to make sure each of these people is treated with the honor and dignity they deserve as human beings, but also for all they have given to us and our country.

I have seen Salute help both individuals and families who had reached the virtual breaking point, bringing them back by providing the sound footing to move forward. What could be better?

I am a Social Worker in the largest Combat PTSD Residential Program in the country. I had a Persian Gulf War Veteran - married - one child - in our 90 day hospital/residential Program. He had some unexpected unfortunate circumstances that left him searching for housing. He found housing and was under the impression that his church would help with costs. He moved his family out of one home and into another. He did not have enough money to move in and was being forced to leave again. SALUTE came to the rescue. I rarely have to assist Patient's in finding financial resources. I was given list after list. Almost all were only helping OIF/OEF. Salute was kind, understanding and AMAZING! They rescued this very sweet family. I am in awe at their generoisity and kindness. THANK YOU SALUTE!!!!!!!!

Salute Inc is a wonderful organization, that truly helps veterans of our military. I am an Air Force officer, who served 6 tours of duty in Iraq and Afghanistan. As I was preparing to leave Iraq from my last tour of duty, I had a breakdown on the plane, and we were forced to emergency land in Qatar. From there, my diagnosis was made, PTSD and TBI. I was flown stateside and spent about 3 months in the hospital. My PTSD is 100% disabling. My life is not the same and never will be. In addition to the stressors of dealing with PTSD/TBI, money worries were a constant. It takes a great deal of time to get benefits in place, both military and VA. During this time we became behind on some bills, had our furnace break down, requiring a new one, and had a car accident involving a deer. Salute Inc, was there for us in a heartbeat. They made the application process streamlined and got our bills paid for us in short order, so we could concentrate on the business of trying to heal and deal with our new normal. My husband Cpl Yuriy Zmysly is an injured Iraq war veteran, he has a severe anoxic brain injury due to lack of oxygen after a surgery on base. He served two tours overseas and was awarded many medals. Because Yuriy wasn't injured in combat, we had a hard time trying to find groups that would help us. From the moment we met Salute Inc back in 2007, they offered their help right away. Because of Salute Inc, my husband has rehab equipment at home that he uses everyday, he has an adaptive bike that he rides outside, and they helped us get a home that is completely wheelchair accessible. All of these things helped change our lives for the better. We have our independence back, that we had lost after he was injured. We will always have Salute Inc in our hearts and they will always be a part of our family.

Salute provides much-needed support to military families that need a helping hand. In the United States we have a gap between government assistance and private charities and many military families find themselves struggling to make ends meet. Admiral Mike Mullen, former Chairman of the Joint Cheifs of Staff has said that it is up to grass roots organizations (such as Salute) to help take care of our military service people, veterans and their families. Salute provides assistance through many programs, including direct assistance, financial aid for rehabilitation, home remodeling/adaption and therapeutic sports camps and activities. The founders and volunteers of Salute work tirelessly to raise money to help military members and their families. The organization is inundated with requests for help and the financial requirements are tremendous. Salute is a great organization founded on solid values of helpfulness, caring, honor and transparency.
