Mission: To awaken and uplift the human spirit, both for audiences and artists. The richmond ballet is dedicated to the promotion, preservation and continuing evolution of the art form of ballet.
Programs: Production and toursthe richmond ballet is one of virginia's finest arts and education institutions and has gained national and international acclaim as a premier dance organization. This year, over 30,000 people in and around richmond, va area were entertained by four repertory performances as well as full length productions of the "nutcracker and "a midsummer night's dream". The ballet also completed tours in various virginia localities.
dance schoolthe school of richmond ballet provides dance classes (ballet, jazz, modern, theatre dance, and character) for over 700 student age 3 to adult 7 days a week. The school also provides advanced training for qualified students who perform with the ballet's professional dance troupe.
"minds in motion"in its 22nd year, this educational outreach program provides year-long in-school classes teaching fourth graders discipline, dedication and self-awareness through dance. In the cities of richmond and charlottesville and surrounding counties, over 25 schools participated in the program. A 2-week residency was also conducted in israel, portsmith, and virginia beach. The students perform on stage in a themed production at the end of each school year.
