Causes: Arts & Culture, Performing Arts
Mission: Our organization's passion is to cultivate, through the performing arts, the talents, character, confidence, and spirit of excellence in youth, ages five through college. We provide youth with opportunities to perform in stage plays and musicals. Our learning environment is encouraging and family-friendly. As a young person, being able to participate in live theater from a young age is one of the most enriching experiences one can have. That’s what we have been providing at Spotlight Productions OKC. Spotlight's director, Ken Wood, is spearheading the drive to create a multi-million dollar Performing Arts Complex in Edmond, Oklahoma which will help train the 50,000 plus homeschool and charter school students during the day, and public school students during the evening. This includes stage performance, musical theater, a dance academy, rehearsal and performance halls for band, orchestra, and choir, and training classes for aspiring actors and those who want to work in the growing Oklahoma film and television industry.
Results: Now in our 13th year, more than a thousand youth have learned what it is to take on a role, memorize lines and stage directions, and draw from their inner talents to make characters come entertainingly alive on stage. One can enroll in any of the nine theater and twenty dance classes in Oklahoma City and Edmond. Spotlight's Dance Academy offers beginner, intermediate, advanced and professional classes in the five major dance forms associated with Broadway and entertainment. These are Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Modern and Hip Hop. Spotlight Productions (Revolution Entertainment) has been blessed with a number of individual and corporate grants. Williams Company, Hobby Lobby, State Farm, Morning Star Storage.
