Reins has been the most incredible program for my son! It has been the first activity that he is happily willing to go to & enjoys. He works on so many important skills and is showing so much improvement. I am so thankful for Reins and all the wonderful people (and horses) who work/volunteer at the program. Thank you!

It has been my family’s privilege to associate with this extraordinary non-profit for over 25 years. They are the BEST of the BEST in every way. They genuinely and deeply care for their students and their families, as well as their horses! The gifted and well educated staff take the time to invest on many different levels to create the safest and highest level of learning experience possible. They train their volunteers well and reinforce to them how valuable they are to running the program. Just a few more words to describe why we continue volunteering and supporting REINS: integrity, honesty, selflessness, hard-working, care of their herd, financially responsible, community oriented, etc. REINS the most wonderful place to be‼️

I'm consistently impressed with the way this organization is able to reach people and touch lives in a meaningful way. From the time I began volunteering, I knew there was something special here. The staff really care about the families that they serve and the horses that they use to make an impact. Even more impressive are their efforts to expand their services to offer mental health support to active-duty military, veterans, first responders, at-risk youth, and people in recovery through their equine-assisted learning workshops.

Volunteering here has been a one in a million experience. The staff, the animals, and the people they serve all work together to make truly special things happen. Sometimes I have been able to help with their Outreach Program and take miniature horses to visit assisted living facilities and other locations for educational opportunities. I had an incredibly rewarding experience volunteering at Reins. I was fortunate to be part of its fundraising events and assist with leading horses at the therapeutic lessons for kids. The compassion and dedication of Reins’ staff and volunteers were truly inspiring. It was heartwarming to witness the positive impact we had on the children's lives! Moreover, volunteering at Reins filled me with positive vibes and helped myself to go through some tough emotions at the time. I have been riding at REINS for the past three years & it has been a fabulous experience in every way. After many years of riding and owning horses, I hadn't ridden a horse in nearly ten years--I was thrilled beyond description to finally, even be sitting on a pony (I could not stop grinning, even before Winston, the pony, started to walk). My experiences since have been equally exciting and fun--I'm now doing things on horseback that I never thought I would be able to do--and loving every moment of it. The horses & ponies at REINS are the best mental & physical therapy ever. The staff and volunteers at REINS are all extremely kind, helpful, understanding and encouraging. I look forward to this weekly half hour as it is the best way to spend my time--I wish I could do it more often and for longer. It amazes me every time I'm there to watch the various students while they ride, as well as interact with, the REINS horses and ponies.

REINS has been on Team Izzy since she was 20 months old...over 13 years. She learned to ride a horse before she learned to walk. Izzy went from crying through every session while laying on the horses' back (too weak to sit) to independently riding, trotting, and untacking her horse each lesson. They have been some of her biggest cheerleaders and champions. Izzy's confidence, grace, skills, strength, speech, and fine motor skills have all benefited from her time at REINS. She loves horses, she loves riding and we feel so privileged to have this opportunity each week over so many years! And the best part is, Izzy can ride until her final days since they service pediatric riders AND adults. We love REINS and the incredible ways they impact this community!

REINS has been a part of our family for the past 10 years. Our daughter started riding at 18 months old...she rode before she could walk. She was too weak to even sit up on her horse, so she lay upon the horse for most of the lesson. She cried through every lesson for the first year because she was so weak, scared and filled with anxiety. The instructors, staff and volunteers were so patient and loving with her. They lovingly encouraged, distracted, and challenged her.

She has come SO far since then. She LOVES riding weekly at REINS and is so sad when there is a break or she misses a lesson. Over the past 10 years, our daughter has grown in her physical strength, worked through her anxiety, gained life AND horseback riding skills we couldn't imagine. She has soared from being a part of this organization and weekly therapy sessions. She went from being scared of all living animals, to tolerating horses only (no dogs, cats, etc) to being a lover of all animals; marching up to any creature now without a care or thought. You would have never known how anxious she was when she started. She grew from laying on her horse to sitting, proudly two-point trotting, and leading her horse by herself through an obstacle course.

It is really difficult to put into words all the incredible ways this organization has changed our daughter...but not just ours...the hundreds of students (adults, too) who come through their gates year after year. We cannot recommend this organization highly enough. You want to be a part of this family as a rider, volunteer, or donor.

When our grandson was born, we were told he had cerebral palsy and that his future might be a very bleak one. With his parents, we began exploring all sorts of avenues to promote his development. Together, we found Reins, and it has been a Godsend. Mason started at Reins when he about 4 years old. He is now 11, and with the guiding help from the Reins therapists and volunteers, his core has shown significant improvement. Best of, so has his overall confidence. They demonstrate this in their interactions and relationships with the riders, families, volunteers, and horses.
I am very impressed with how much they care and know about each rider. The lessons are tailored to meet their needs. As a result, relationships and bonds with riders and families exist for years. It is a great pleasure to see what a wonderful and important impact they have on the riders and their families.
The true testament is that the families continue to bring their loved ones to REINS. They know that they will receive the best possible care here. This is a reflection of the trust they have in the staff. The fact that they continue to bring their loved ones is a great testament to the REINS program.

I have been a volunteer at REINS for over two years. From the beginning I began working I realized that REINS is a very special place. Despite my lack of knowledge and experience with horses, I was made to feel welcome. I am grateful for the patience and encouragement I receive from Debbie, who coordinates the program, as well as the entire staff and volunteers. Even the horses put up with me.

The entire staff is loving, caring, friendly, patient, and truly enjoy their jobs. I am impressed with how well they interact with each other as well as the volunteers, riders, and families. There is a great sense of joy along with peace and serenity. The staff demonstrates nothing but love and respect for the riders, families, and horses. I am also greatly impressed with how much they care and know about each rider. The lessons are tailored to meet their needs. Relationships and bonds with riders and families are developed, in many cases for several years.

Everything is done top-notch with the interests of the riders, families and horses at heart. They are not satisfied with the status quo; they are always striving to enhance the program for the benefit of the people they serve.

As in any organization, the attitudes and behaviors of the staff reflect the qualities of leadership. It is apparent that Debbie embodies the best qualities of leadership along with a heart for the people in the program.

The staff and volunteers are passionate about their duties. It is a great pleasure to see what a wonderful difference they make in the lives of the riders and families. REINS is a friendly and safe environment for the people to come and experience joy and fun while physically and emotionally benefiting from the program.

I am very grateful that they allow me to work here. I enjoy every minute I spend here. By the way, I now know that tack is not just something you stick on a bulletin board and which end of the horse a hackamore goes on.

I started volunteering at REINS in 2003 but have been on the staff for the last 15 yrs.
I wanted something worthwhile and fun to do that used my background in special education and love of horses. What a win win for me when I walked onto the property!! Outdoor activities, horses and children and adults that needed therapies that horses could provide. I was hooked on the program right away. The staff and the families that participate in the program all work together to provide a positive and unique experience for the rider. This can always be seen on the riders face once they sit upon their horse. The smiles are heartwarming every single day I am at work!! That is the reason I go back to REINS every week.

Let me explain what this picture is saying. I'll leave it to your heart to help with the true impact. Gemma is a young lady that has a disability called SMA, spinal muscular atrophy. When she is at the ranch she is confined to her stroller on steroids as I call it. Her horse is Daisy, a 21 year old POA. This was during our Christmas Party Pony Parade. Families drive around the ranch and stop to say hi to their horses. Emma's nurse is holding her little hand out and Daisy is making a beeline for her hand. She is not being lead. This is one of the strongest relationships between horse and rider at the ranch. This is why I volunteer. Or when Vincent, who can't walk, stood up in the stirrups for the first time a couple of weeks ago. You can not imagine how excited he was. This is why I volunteer.
We have around fifty staff, 900 volunteers, and twenty horses ready, willing and able to serve the 200 families we tend too. All committed to make sure stories like these never stop coming.

Our daughter, who has cerebral palsy, started with Reins last year. We heard repeatedly from doctors, early educators, and physical therapists how wonderful the program was and to enroll her as soon as she met the age requirements. We knew it must be really special because this group of professionals couldn't all agree on any other single thing! From our very first tour we were impressed by how well run the program was, how much thought was put into tailoring to meet the needs of each individual rider, and how well cared for the horses appeared. After a year in the program, it's easy to see why it was so highly regarded. Our daughter has made giant progress in many areas-balance, speech, core strength, walking patterns- since beginning riding. The staff is so friendly and dedicated to delivering good outcomes and wonderful experiences. During the COVID shelter in place they put on numerous drive through and video events to continue to serve their riders and it truly brought so much joy to our little one to attend. It's also worth mentioning that in the world of special needs/ disabilities, typically things are very expensive and many are not covered by insurance. Reins charges parents a fraction of what it costs for them to operate so that all families can access their services. They truly believe in the benefit of what riding can do for children and want everyone to experience it. I can't say enough wonderful things about this program and the warmth and care of the staff for their riders and horses.

REINS has been a huge part of our family for the past 6 years. Our daughter suffers from PTSD and Reactive Attachment Disorder. Each week, REINS continues to be instrumental in guiding her to achieve the very best! With the help of her trainer and horse, she has been able to build confidence, communication skills, and long lasting relationships with both her two- and four- legged friends. She has even begun volunteering on a weekly basis too. Thank you REINS for giving our girl a positive and safe environment to excel in!

My daughter Raelynn has been riding at REINS for the past three years. Rae has suffered from PTSD for years. Before she came to REINS, she was unable to socially function in outside settings such as school or doctor appointments. The team at REINS Therapeutic Horsemanship Program has helped Rae grow in to a secure and confident nine-year-old. She can now look people in the eye and shake their hand. Rae can also now hold a conversation with both kids and adults. Each week we watch her strive to work hard and it is done with a huge smile. Our family is thankful each day for the commitment the staff and the countless volunteers at REINS provides. A BIG THANK YOU to Ms. Nikki our daughter's instructor at REINS! Raelynn would have never gotten this far without the love and patience that you've shown her!

I originally started volunteering with REINS as a Service Learning Opportunity for a class. Only needed about 20 hours-- instead I stayed for years. This program is a great service to families with special needs, and the environment is awesome. Everybody is happy to be there-- the rider, the family members, the instructors, and the volunteers. Instruction pulls from many different disciplines to provide riders with the most benefit, geared towards their specific needs and abilities (i.e. core strength and balance, functional communication and self-expression, etc). There are also fun events throughout the year-- if you have kids (with or without special needs), I'd recommend stopping by for the Spring Hop the weekend before Easter. Lots of fun for everyone

Several years ago, I was a nanny for a little girl with severe developmental delays. We would come to Reins weekly where she would ride and be encouraged make speech sounds and interact with the volunteers and horses. She would glow with joy before, during, and after lessons. I saw so many benefits from therapeutic horseback riding.
I was also friends in elementary, middle, and high school with a boy with developmental disabilities who rode at Reins. He died as a young adult, and the people from Reins were a big part of his memorial service, because Reins was such a wonderful part of his life, where he felt friendship and encouragement.

REINS had been an amazing part of our community for years. I have attended some of their fundraisers and know multiple people who have ridden here. Their impact to society and the community can't be measured. I've seen tangible results using the therapeutic horsemanship model. Highly recommend this nonprofit if you're looking for quality caring people. They love their students!

I began volunteering at REINS in spring 2016 and quickly fell in love with the incredible team of people, horses, and students who make REINS a truly magical place. I knew after a short time that I wanted to join the REINS Staff so that I could do more and use my skills to help make an impact in this corner of the world. I could not have been more thrilled when I was accepted to a part time position on staff to help with the marketing and events at REINS. It has been my utmost pleasure to help share the stories of our students and their families with our community so that REINS can continue to provide the services that truly make a difference in our lives. We have the most kind and compassionate staff, and truly inspiring students and families. Anyone that is connected with REINS is passionate about our mission and wants to support the ongoing work of "Changing Lives...One Ride at a Time!"

I have been involved with the REINS program for over 20 years. I have been fortunate to donate my time and most recently emcee their annual REINS of Life Golf Tournament. I enjoy bringing my family and friends to each of the REINS events throughout the year. This program helps change the lives of the people and families who ride at REINS. I couldn't think of a better place to donate my time and help give back.

REINS is a wonderful place. My daughter has been receiving horseback riding therapy for two years and we’ve seen tremendous progress with her balance, coordination, and ability to follow directions. The staff, the therapists, and the volunteers are the best—kind and attentive to my daughter. They hold wonderful events like the Easter Egg hunt and honor the riders with a special day of riding with ribbons and celebration. REINs has brought my daughter & I so much joy—she’s grown in many areas of challenge, she’s gained confidence, and she’s made friends. We are grateful for the dedication and love from every single person in the organization!

My autistic granddaughter has been having riding lessons for approx. 10 years. It is wonderful. In addition to learning to interact with the employees and feel at home around them, she is comfortable being on the horses, learning that she can be in control of something even much bigger than her (even backing the horse up when she isn't supposed to :) In addition to training daily in the arena and doing things like shooting baskets while on a horse, stepping up onto a platform, guiding the horse thru an obstacle course, they go on a trail ride. Upon completion, she must return the reins to its proper place, and take a bucket of carrots to the horse. Once when she misbehaved, they asked if they had my permission to do a little work. I said, "Of course! You can have her pick up horse poop, if you want!" ...so they did. Good way to learn work required for the horses...as well as punishment... REINS is a wonderful place for all kinds of special needs kids (blind, cerebral palsy, Down Syndrome, etc. I strongly recommend it.

My daughter has been going to Reins for a year and a half and it's her favorite day of the week! She loves riding her horse and saying high to all the horses when we come. She has developed a true love for animals and I believe it's because of Reins. They really take the time to know my daughter and all about her condition to create the best plan for her. Her instructor truly has an amazing heart and the volunteers are all amazing. They have special events that make the kids feel so special and loved. I couldn't ask for anything better with this program. Truly a piece of heaven on earth!!!

This amazing place has served as a useful tool to keep me grounded through hard work volunteering and as a grown woman teaching me compassion, love and strength. I care so much for the facility that facilitates well-being, acceptance, and vitality through the healing touch of horses. What an amazing group of people REINS brings together.

Our twin girls have benefited physically, mentally, and socially from their riding lessons once a week with REINS amazing staff and volunteers. Not to forget our other "typical" children that were able to grow as well through their time spent volunteering at REINS. We cannot imagine living without REINS in our community. I'm always excited to learn something new that I can use to help my students and being informed about something I don't normally deal with such as IEP's and 504's where knowledge of the education system and sometime insurance is key. Since we are able to consult with Speech language pathologist it was brought to my attention of how being informed about those things can help your student by informing clueless parents, we know the sooner the therapy the better chance of meeting goals. Now we can help be an advocate for our students and that can make a big difference in everyone's lives. I love REINS!

Reins is the most amazing place and I am so lucky to have been able to experience all the sides of it. I volunteered as a teenager and later as an adult, my son rode in the program for 6 years and for the last 3 years I've been an instructor. Reins helped my son so much, when he first started at 3 he only had a few words in his vocabulary and after only a couple years he was a chatter box! His goals were for speech, listening, following directions, sharing, taking turns and making friends all of which he did with the love and support of the reins crew. and now it's my turn to give back and help others achieve their goals! Reins is my happy place.

I'm an instructor at Reins and working here has changed my whole perspective on life and keeps my priorities in check. Every time I cross the bridge that leads to a place similar to Disney Land; laughter, rides, family time together and making new friends, I give praise and thanks to God for blessing me to be part of such a special place. My students are so special to me and I always learn so much from them.
Watching parents observe their children ride, walk and/or speak for the first time is a feeling that's hard to explain. You"ll just have to come visit us so you can experience for yourself. Horses provide such a healing energy and that combined with compassionate volunteers, staff and riders makes for a positive and healing experience. Thanks Reins for being my family for 12 amazing years. I don't know how I ever survived without you!!!!

I started volunteering at REINS over 15 years ago because of my love for horses. I enjoyed the experience so much that after I had to move away for four years due to the military, I came back and haven't left. There is a special magical feeling every time I cross that bridge and get to see the smiling and caring faces of everyone there. It's the joy on the students' faces as they interact with others and the horses. It's the excitement in the air from anticipation of getting to participate in lessons. It's the simple joy of being at such a happy place where you feel like you belong.

I have spent most of my younger years volunteering up at REINS, and because REINS has had such an incredible impact on my life, I chose to continue my life in this rewarding field of work. REINS has not only offered me an outlet for my passion of horses, but given me the gift of working with the disabled community. I have personally witnessed how REINS is able to give back to the community by offering a safe environment for both young teens and adults to give back, by volunteering with the program. The impact of the therapy for our clients includes physical, emotional, and cognitive attributes that bridge the gap from horseback to everyday skills for daily life. You just have to see it to believe it, so come on out and see our facility!

I started volunteering with Reins over 2 years ago. I think it is such a vital program for the families of Southern California with a child or family member in need of therapy. It can be used in conjunction with other types of therapy but incorporating all of the activities we do during lessons along with riding the horse is so beneficial to the riders. All the instructors are totally amazing, and the volunteers that I've worked with are all dedicated to improving this program on a daily basis.
The horses are all very well trained, and suit a varied level of rider experience, from beginner to advanced.

REINS is an amazing organization that is truly making a difference in so many lives. My daughter Isabella has Down syndrome and has many disadvantages and medical needs. She has improved her socialization, confidence, gross motor skills, and core strength. Reins is a wonderful program where all the kids and voulnteers love everything about it. I volunteer there every Wednesday and Friday afternoon and I absolutely love it. The instructors are the sweetest and nicest people as are the other voulnteers. Everyone there is like family to me and are accepting of everyone. They have great animals that are patient with the riders and learning voulnteers and are exceptionally well behaved. They are active in the community of Fallbrook and participate in community activities such as Christmas Parades. This is the best program in the whole world I believe that helps special needs people and treats everyone as equal.
