Mission: Provide world class performing arts for the community without admission charge
Programs: Summer music program: the redlands bowl summer music festival was founded by grace stewart mullen, whose vision was that "music is for everyone and should be accessible to all regardless of their ability to pay admission. Mullen's dream of bringing professional quality, classically-oriented performing arts to her community has been carried on in today's redlands bowl summer music festival, held from june through august each year and still open free to the public. At 8pm every tuesday and friday evening during the summer, the redlands bowl summer music festival draws thousands to its world-class performance. Since its inception, an estimated eight million people have attended an evening of entertainment under the stars at the redlands bowl. Each year the programs for the summer music festival include symphonies, dance programs, opera, folk music, and a broadway musical.
youth initiative: as part of its ongoing work to bring "music to everyone", the redlands community music association has embarked on a dramatic strategy to expand its reach to youth in our region. The rcma seeks to reach over 30,000 young people through the life-changing power of the arts, representing a four-fold annual increase in outreach to youth. A significant percentage of the young people to be impacted by these programs are underserved and/or low income. These programs include music in the school's elementary and middle school assemblies. The arts impact initiative brings music enrichment programs to community partners including the boys and girls club, family service association, micah house, and the redlands community center. The children's festival workshops bring age appropriate summer arts programming to children ages 4-12 at the mission gables bowl house and the north redlands community center.
