Mission: Reading Reaches, Inc., looks for opportunities to address our community's literacy needs in ways that are currently unfilled.In 2000, we realized that reading to children in the Domestic Violence shelters would both encourage good reading habits, and would allow children to interact with adults in a loving, non-threatening manner.In 2002, we discovered that there was an unmet need for dictionaries for our community's school children. The dictionary is the first step that many children take toward "independent research", and we have found that they are excited to be free to have a chance to learn on their own.
