Mission: The organization is committed to providing crisis intervention counseling services to sexual assault victims, their families, and friends; educating the community about the causes, impacts, and prevention of sexual assault; and advocating for comprehensive medical treatment and respectful legal representation on behalf of victims of this violent crime. The rape recovery centers professional staff and group of certified and committed volunteers work together to educate the community about issues of rape and sexual assault, provide survivors with immediate crisis intervention, and aid survivors in the healing process.
Programs: See schedule o during the 2016-2017 fiscal year (july 1 - june 30) the rape recovery center served 1,055 clients, providing a total of 15,488 direct services. Our hospital response team provided 3,338 crisis intervention and follow-up services, including 430 crisis advocacy call-outs to salt lake county hospitals. In-office advocates provided a total of 6,243 services, including 253 service planning assessments with newly engaged clients, 4,928 personal advocacy interventions and referrals, and 1,101 coping skills counseling sessions. The clinical team offered 5,853 therapeutic services, including 2,095 individual therapy sessions and 578 group therapy sessions. Finally, our outreach and access team reached approximately 4,300 utahns with information about our services and sexual violence prevention education.
