Causes: Arts & Culture, Performing Arts
Mission: To operate a performing arts facility in flushing-meadows corona park, queens that provides professional productions and other programs in the dramatic, musical and related arts, encourages and facilitates the use of its facility as a resource center by other not-for-pr0fit organizations, and provides arts-in-education programming for youths including in-school workshops and live performing arts experience.
Programs: Theatre series: fully staged productions of both established works and new plays and musicals. The 2016-17 seasons included 27 performances to an audience of approximately 5,421 people.
education programs: the education program brings performing arts classes, language program, theatrical courses, and storytelling to queens theatre, schools, senior centers, in the community and the queens libraries. Department of cultural affair, fully supports our 'centre stage' program. The 2016-17 seasons included 16 performances to an audience of approximately 4120 people. The summer show stoppers gave 56 children the opportunity to write and perform original musical with an audience of 220 people. The page to stage program reached and audience of 150 people at 6 events. The senior ensemble theatre (set) program ran in 8 senior centers and had 16 performance to an audience of 380 people. The theatre english language learners (qtell) was performed at 4 schools (12 classes) reaching an audience of 560 students, parents, and teachers. In addition to these programs we also provided free student matinee performances for an additional 2,307 students across 6 performances for school matinees to our mainstage dance and theatre series.
cultural programs: performances of music, dance theatre, and film related to culturally specific themes performed by artists around the world. The 2016-17 seasons included 14 performances and classes to an audience of approximately 4,597 people.
