Even before Distance Learning, teachers of Viva Antipolo Elementary School were struggling to provide students with the supplies they need in school. Below average income households often cannot afford to provide classroom supplies and teachers don’t have choice but to spend their own money to stock their classrooms with everything from basic supplies to technology and sometimes snacks for their learners. Our school is located in Brgy Pagsangahan, San Francisco, Quezon with 8 teachers including the school heads and180 leaners from Kindergarten to Grade 6. Teachers will endure 2 hours of travel in going to school via motor ride from the town proper. This school is the poorest school in the whole town, facing numerous challenges like scarcity of classrooms, books, ICT equipment’s and facilities. That’s why teachers are doing their very best in finding partners to help them realized the goal of giving quality education despite of pandemic. When I was informed by Maam Donna Rosario, that our school had been chosen and sponsored by Pusong Pinoy.Org to receive hundreds of slightly used books and clothes and financial support worth of 96,000 pesos to feed 123 learners for three months. No words could possibly express how happy I was that day, Thank you so much Heroes and Superheroes of Pusong Pinoy. Because of your donation and financial support, we have been able to purchase snacks for our learners that made them excited and hopeful every day. It is so exciting and rewarding to see the parents receiving bundle of snacks for their children. Your donation and heartfelt giving have been an inspiration to keep our learners motivated and continue their education despite of pandemic. Thank you is not enough for all your kindness!

Just want to post an appreciation message to all the Pusong Pinoy Super Heroes:

Your efforts, your generosity, your kindness, are all appreciated by those who received blessings from your organization, including me and our school. Please continue to support the needy, the helpless, the struggling individuals and/or groups because you will never know the impact of what you are doing to them/us. Like the biscuits that you gave to all of our pupils. You can say that it's just a pack of biscuit, but to them, it might help them do good in school, it will motivate them to study harder, etc.
You are all an inspiration to us. God bless your generous soul..

My name is Jehana M. Navarro. I am a simple and hard-working recent high school graduate. I am glad to be one of the recipients of the Pusongpinoy.org’s Scholarship Project because they provide qualified but financially-challenged students an opportunity to go to college.

I really would like to go to college because I believe that my chosen course of study will enable me to fulfill my desire to help others, develop leadership skills, and give me a competitive edge in my future career. Being one of their scholars is an incredible opportunity for me to pursue my dreams.

Throughout my life, I participated in extracurricular activities and gained valuable volunteer experiences. I have striven for academic excellence, always wishing to make the most of my education. I tried to connect my passion for learning with my desire to help others.

While in high school, I maintained a high level of academic achievement while volunteering for community service. I graduated from Joyland School as the Valedictorian of my class in 2021 where I was an Academic Scholar for almost six years.

In addition, I assisted my mom in her volunteer service. I helped bring donations to far-flung areas, taught underprivileged children how to read, sang songs, and made children happy through simple feeding programs. It was the most rewarding experience in my life. I also played leadership roles in our school organizations where I organized community service events for the school. We had donation drives every December for many families in need and organized coastal cleanups.

Because of these hardships, Pusongpinoy.org awarded me the scholarship. I am willing to help and volunteer at Pusongpinoy.org. I hope to become an instrumental member of society, using all of my energies to create path to the "good life," not only for myself but also for others. I am grateful to find opportunities such as what the organization provides to students like me who have the passion and determination to become the person they want to be.

For many years now, I have been waiting for this opportunity that I have found in Pusong Pinoy, that is, to be able to help those in need and share the blessings even only in small but meaningful ways. It is hard to find an organization that is as transparent and as REAL as Pusong Pinoy.
Pusong Pinoy has inspired me so much because of their great advocacy, the resilient volunteers, all the people working together, the Heroes and the Superheroes that make things happen, and the recipients thatI have become inspirations to all the Heroes that have become part of the “family” in this organization.
It has become a passion for me to share the great things that Pusong Pinoy has done in the past, the present and looking forward to a lot more in the future...

Pusong Pinoy (PP) provides scholarship and financial support to impoverished Filipino children. PP makes learning possible for students of all ages, from pre-school to high school. It also provides other educational services and opportunities that help make Philippine public schools more effective.

There are many charitable organizations that help my birth country (Philippines), but, unfortunately, only a handful of them can be trusted. PP is an organization that is most trustworthy. I have been involved with PP for many many years, including providing scholarships, books, school supplies and even footwear so these children can attend school. I am grateful to PP for giving me the opportunity to help change young lives in the Philippines. There’s no better way to improve their lives but through education.

I run a small foundation called Damascus we cater to young boys who have lost their way or have been victims of societies woes. We also run a feeding and learning center for poor and undernourished children. 10 years ago we were blessed to get a visit from a group of housewives who called themselves Pusong Pinoy, they asked how they can help our foundation , as their advocacy was education thru donating books, we told them we need books, for us to fill the minds of the children with knowledge , but we also needed food to help their bodies develop with proper nutrition.
So not only did we get books but they also organized a yearly food drive for us!
They are Heaven sent ! As the years went on, we started a scholarship program for our top students in the daycare.
Again our Pusong Pinoy Heroes(we call them our Angels) helped us find sponsors for graduates, and to date we have 21 scholars that Pusong Pinoy have been sponsoring with us . From kindergarten to Senior highschool!
I found their organization as a true mission of love and care for the children in the Philippines and the impact on the lives of the children and their families is so immense ! We are so thankful for their continued support of our Mission!
May their Tribes increase!

It was truly humbling how the founder, Donna Rosario, started this mission with her children in her own home. Her sons thought about donating their slightly-used books to the unfortunate kids in the Philippines and the rest is history.

From then on, I introduced my children to her and showed them that even though they're not adults yet, they can still make a difference by trying to promote literacy to those children in need, just by collecting books that they don't use anymore. My oldest, Christian became very inspired himself and promoted book collection in his high school and was successful enough to have collected a total of 4,000 books from his school alone and another 1,500 from friends, family and the community. He additionally sponsored a scholar in La Sale Lipa's Damascus Foundation through his social movement, KUYA. It's a rewarding gesture most especially for the children and youth because they can feel good about themselves that even if they're still young, they can play an important part in the society.

Because of this experience, my children learned the importance of giving and helping to their capacity. They will carry this throughout their lives.

It's an honor to be able to write a review for one of my favorite nonprofits, Pusong Pinoy! I've seen them grow from a small group to a global organization that helps countless children. My friends and I have been able to donate tons of books to them to help in the development of literacy for under privileged kids in the Philippines. Back in 2011, my business partner, Judith Milano, donated to the Children of the Little Lights Ministry through the help of Pusong Pinoy and she celebrated her "birthday" party with the kids! It was a life changing experience as we saw the tremendous gratitude and joy of the children when we spent an afternoon with them along with the Miss Beauty of the Philippines - Tourism, Chasta Nechvatal. The current Miss Beauty of the Philippines title holder, Erina Lightholder, recently donated boxes of slightly used books to Pusong Pinoy also, and we look forward to supporting this wonderful group of HEROES as they continue their battle to end illiteracy in the Philippines.

I was able to speak to one of the PP SUPERHERO who happens to be a friend too. He asked me to check their website and Facebook page to know more about Pusong Pinoy. I was moved by how it started - a mother wanting to teach her son how to be compassionate and generous thru a book drive.

So I went through with my plan and organized a no-gift party, I requested my guest to make donations in cash instead. The donations collected were then given to my PP SUPERHERO friend. From the time I have handed the donation up to the planning and implementation of how the funds will be used, I was updated by everyone. I was very impressed by their honesty and transparency.

What I am trying to say is that, Pusong Pinoy works with pure love and burning passion in helping the needy most specially the children.

I do believe that no matter where you're from, what your skin color is or what language you speak we all have a Pusong Pinoy in all of us, a heart that is always ready to give a helping hand to those in need.

To all PP Superheroes, thank you for giving your time and love. May the passion you all have continue to burn and give light to those in need. More power and KUDOS!

You look at the several communities our Little Lights Ministry is serving and immediately you see why we were able to do that far. That is the result of the steadfast support of Pusong Pinoy. They have painstakingly labored to help children of needy families here in the Philippines. Doing what they are doing for years until now is not an easy task. Collecting and gathering donations of educational supplies, food and clothings and all other items which are needful for the mind, body and soul, then sending it to the Philippines is not an easy task. But they are doing it anyway. Truly, their deeds speak for Pusong Pinoy! A heart that would want to share because they care... We love you, Pusong Pinoy!

Pusong Pinoy's mission of promoting education and literacy not only empowers kids but open doors of opportunities that would otherwise not easily be available to them. I myself was fortunate to receive scholarships in both my undergraduate and graduate degrees and feel very grateful to my sponsors who helped me realize my goals. Thus I know how Pusong Pinoy's work is important but also life-changing to the kids, students, and community they serve. PUSONG PINOY is a wonderful initiative from Filipinos who would like to help out young children in the Philippines. Increasing the literacy levels of the young children will impact on their futures. Literate children do better in life. It takes just one book at a time to create positive change in the lives of children. Imagine how many lives will be affected when more books are donated!

I am a mom and a primary school teacher. I know that being exposed to books encourages creativity, critical and imaginative thinking amongst children. Increasing literacy rates is a cause that is close to my heart. Contributing to this cause has been a great joy. We can change the world of less fortunate children, one book at a time.

When Pinays (the vernacular for women of the Philippines) like me, who often are abroad,
read about calamities that strike our native country and would like to extend some help,
WE TRUST that the donations will reach the actual victims and those in real need whenever
we hand it over through PUSONG PINOY. A lot of my own relatives have joined the group.
I personally know how these young men and women have jobs and yet have volunteered
all their free time to help our fellow Pinoys. They are not getting paid to do this. More often
than not, they have to reach into their own pocketys and supplies to provide a need.
May more young people be like them to prove that, indeed, they are the force that will

From the book they send us, we started the book reading for the less fortunate children. From the book, I got the idea to do educational trip, for them to see other places such as Zoo, Planetarium, Gardenia, Luneta, Museum in Nichols, Enchanted Kingdom etc. The best gift that Pusong Pinoy gave to our less fortunate children, educating them and make them smile again.
They also helped us with our other needs like school supplies, slippers, giving packed of goodies every Christmas. Some super heroes even spend their birthday with the kids. They also help us with our Relief operation.
As their recipient, We prayed that they may be able to continue their works, in making a difference to our less fortunate brothers and sisters. They are truly a gift from God.

I am wary in giving donations (here in the Philippines) primarily because I am not sure if my donation will reach its intended recepient/s. And to many of these fund raising organizations, I feel I am simply a 'donor." Pusong Pinoy changed this paradigm. Really. I have particiated in their activities/get togethers (where volunteers, donors and recipients meet and mingle) and every experience is truly inpsiring and amazing and feels like your part of a big family. Hearing first hand how these donations have touched the lives of so many makes me feel blessed to be part of Pusong Pinoy. Sometimes we think nothing of our book donations, for me, it was simply needing space for my daughters age appropriate books, so I donated her 'old' but still in very good conditon books to Pusong Pinoy. And the volunteers, are heroes indeed, why? Pusong Pinoy book donations doesnt end by merely donating books, the volunteers ensure that recipient public schools (mostly in remote areas) embrace sustainable reading programs, this way, the recipient partners (principal and/or teachers) have ownership of the program. We may never know their names or see their faces, but somewhere, there is a child with a smile on his/her face because he/she has learned to read and because of sustainable reading programs, will eventually love reading.

There are a lot of organizations out there who're established to help others, to give a helping hand, to provide support to those who have less, and Pusong Pinoy is one of them.

This organization's main purpose is to promote literacy towards kids who are less fortunate. But what stands out about them is that they started from a very humble beginning and is kept grounded in order to uphold their main purpose, to help.

An organization which founded by family, it kept growing and growing into one big extended family whom each member strives or gives up their personal and sometimes careers in order to provide help to these kids. They are located all over the globe, yet they still function together as one. They make it a point to execute projects that has a 100% success rate of helping others and not to mention ensuring that transparency is upheld. So that, donors or what they call "Heroes" would know where their donations or help go. And that their support really is received by kids who are not as fortunate as we are.

To describe this organization, I'd say we can call them a "Bright Future." Simple because they are here to provide a brighter future to those kids who have less than what we have. It is with this that I fell in love with this organization and found myself a volunteer, because I believe that their cause is well worth it.

With that said....
I have read books about heroes like Jose Rizal. When I was young and until now, I love to watch cartoons and movies about superheroes. I'm just so fascinated with heroes. I have come to the realization that each of us can be a hero to these children through Pusong Pinoy. By giving without expectation. Putting smile on a child's face. I have been a volunteer since this organization started in May 2009. I can assure you that your books make a big difference in the lives of marginalized students here in the Philippines. We deliver the books to remote public schools, non governmental organizations or groups that promote reading in remote areas here in our country.

Pusong Pinoy do not just donate storybooks, we require public schools to create a reading program. They have to send us updates every few months. So far, we've touched the lives of over 15,000 disadvantaged children through the help of heroes in the US, Europe, Australia and other countries.

Thru the years We have survived on our faith the God will provide for his wounded children , and that he will send us angels to watch over us. We firmly believe Pusong Pinoy are these Angels , God has sent to us. There are times it seems they know our needs, even before we ask them for it. But you know what is truly amazing, is the strength we get from them to continue our mission, especially in times when we start to doubt and despair. It's amazing to meet & work with fellow volunteers who share the same aspirations for our country. There's so much work to be done in public education & so many kids needing help. I've always believed that poverty & all the problems that go with it are a direct result of our failure to educate our children. If Pusong Pinoy can do this, I think we have a chance at turning things around. We are a resilient people & the fact that volunteers come from around the world, Filipinos & non-Filipinos alike is proof enough that together we can make a difference. Thank you to all the sponsors & donors and volunteers who continue to believe in what we do.

If I can name one non-profit organization that deserves support from corporate sponsors, that would be Pusong Pinoy. Any corporate sponsor will find reassurance in the proven success of this all-volunteer group. Nearly 4 years in existence, Pusong Pinoy is a rare concept in volunteerism. Volunteers span the globe and "meet" on-line in a social medium that keeps them up to date on the latest project or success story. Many of these 'heroes' are complete strangers who've only met on-line but share a common goal, that of improving the education of Filipino children in public schools. Realizing the gargantuan task of gathering & distributing used books and mobilizing volunteers who will do the leg-work, Pusong Pinoy has effectively leveraged their brand & reputation by getting other civic-organizations involved. The result: a collaboration of like-minded apolitical organizations who still care for those who may seem to have been forgotten. In essence Pusong Pinoy has taken the 'bayanihan spirit' to a whole new level - a global crusade that knows no borders. Everyone knows that education is the 'great equalizer'. At the heart of Pusong Pinoy is the hope that with education we can take the Philippines to first world status. That is the dream & Pusong Pinoy is the magic behind that dream.

This non-profit organization is like no other. It thrives on transparency, accountability and participation. I continue to volunteer for this group because I know contributions from donors get to the children that they're intended for. What's more is that, its resources are pooled to help uplift the literacy levels of less privileged school-age children. This is done through storybook donations and reading programs. Pretty soon, we will be working directly with public school teachers and parents through trainings. We work very hard to ensure that these children learn not only to read, but to read with UNDERSTANDING. We believe that children who learn how to read early will have better chances at succeeding in life, thereby, breaking the vicious cycle of poverty. I am here at Pusong Pinoy because it does what I believe in. :)

I saw the group through a friend's post in facebook. I was so interested that their cause are for the less fortunate children in the Philippines, most importantly it's a non-profit and non-political/governmental organizations. They're very transparent in what they do and so I've been with Pusong Pinoy since 2010. I love the feeling of being able to help the children in remote areas in the Philippines through Pusong Pinoy even when I live in Hong Kong. I found a new family that are truly superheroes. The unconditional love to help for the benefit of the children. More power to Pusong Pinoy!

I've been a donor for the past 2 years and I am very pleased with this nonprofit organization. They post photos, videos or messages from their recipients. Their recipients also post comments letting everyone know that they received the donations. Very transparent. IF you have storybooks that you don't need, please consider giving it to Pusong Pinoy to help kids in the Philippines learn how to read.

I've been a Pusong Pinoy volunteer for almost a year now and all I can say is that it opened my eyes to so many new possibilities we can do for the children in the Philippines. Pusong Pinoy not only gives out books but it makes sure that there is accountability. Pusong Pinoy makes sure that the recipient (school or community) has a viable reading program intact and follows up on them on a regular basis to ensure that the books are not only for display but are actually used to educate the young children. I know that the effects of this are exponential. To educate a child is to empower him or her.

As a former grade school teacher, education is very close to my heart. I believe that education empowers the youth to be who they want to be. I am a volunteer for Pusong Pinoy because the organization believes that in order to eradicate poverty, one must start with literacy. Through this organization, I've seen many poor Filipino children and poor public schools receive the very much needed books and school supplies. I've seen scholars sent to school. It is very uplifting to know that through team work and cooperation, something can be done. Pusong Pinoy is a pro-active organization, always evolving and always looking for ways to be of service to others.

Before I met Pusong Pinoy, I was a member of various local charity groups here in Baguio City, Philippines. And all along I thought it was just collect donations and execute turnovers, because that’s what I saw. When I was asked to be part of Pusong Pinoy in 2009, I realized there’s such a thing as INTEGRITY. The group does not only focus on giving but also gives high regard to honesty, consistency and validity of programs.

I myself is so proud to be a part of this great organization. I joined Pusong Pinoy way back 2009 when I was still in Baguio City, Philippines. I became a Team Leader and from that moment on my life changed a lot, I mean A LOT. The camaraderie and friendship of the people inside the organization is awesome. Another thing I like most is the transparency and accountability of the group. Through Pusong Pinoy, I found new friends, new family. Pusong Pinoy taught me that even if we have little, we can still help the people who are in need. Through Pusong Pinoy I was able to see the world of those children who are sacrificing so much just to go to school and learn. Now that I am here in Canada, I am still spreading the word about Pusong Pinoy and still helping the group to further its cause. It is not a crime to share our blessings to those people who are in dire need of help. An act of random kindness, that is what we are doing at Pusong Pinoy. Show some care - Pass the kindness.

I joined this organization in 2009 when it first started as a group of family and friends who collected books to help promote literacy in the Philippines. I was able to join the handing over of books to schools in the Philippines and got to know our recipients more. We help almost 40 public schools in remote areas in the Philippines. These are disadvantaged frustrated readers but because of the reading program and books given by Pusong Pinoy, they soon learn how to read in english. This whole process is so inspiring. I got to see a the principal, teachers and parents working hand in hand to help their children get a better education. Pusong Pinoy is all about involving the entire community. I am so proud to be a part of this group. Please check out our website to learn more about what we do and how you too could help promote literacy through reading in the Philippines. www.pusongpinoy.org

GREAT organization. Very transparent. With what's happening in the world today, a group like Pusong Pinoy that puts emphasis on education and opening doors to lots of unfortunate kids in the Philippines, they are literally creating a NEW and BETTER Philippines. The people behind this organization are very inspiring, their motive is very PURE. When I read about them a couple of years ago, I was convinced right away. They say it is better to give than to receive. I say, when you give and can cause change positively to one of these kids' life, that's even better. That kid can someday become the person that will fix my bad back. MORE POWER AND KEEP IT UP PUSONG PINOY!!

Year 2009, I saw a group of a "REAL SUPERHERO" who are untiringly transporting love to some kids here in the Philippines, I was amazed by their actions so I have decided to fly with them. Since then my life has changed, I was able to see and meet different people from all walks of life and were able to stand up as a proud messenger with BIG HEART. Months ago I gave my power back to the Founder/creator of Pusong Pinoy but stamped my heart with colors Red, blue and yellow, a life changing colors that will forever be in my heart, MY HEART OF A FILIPINO". Kudos to all Superheroes around the world and thank you for the unlimited LOVE.

I'm a Team Leader here in the Philippines. Been with Pusong Pinoy since it started in May'09. The Founder is my cousin who is based in USA and when we started this group, it was just to do a simple book drive to help 1 school and 1 nonprofit organization's reading program by providing storybooks for them. More and more people stepped up to help and so we couldn't really stop. We've helped around 40 public schools in the Philippines now, mostly in remote areas. The best part of being in this group is knowing that I don't have to contribute money to make a difference. I just have to do what I can, like help turnover items for specific projects.

Need help?
