Mission: To provide occupational, educational, and recycling opportunities to individuals living in southern colorado while promoting resource conservation for the purpose of preserving the natural beauty of our state.
Programs: Terra firma can potentially serve 15,000 people within a 50 mile radius of trinidad, colorado, and through productive management divert recyclable materials that would otherwise be treated as discards from the city of trinidad landfill. The hub will serve 18 communities. Terra firma measures impact by total tons/pounds of recyclable material diverted from landfill. We are able to measure environment impact locally and globally. All of the recyclable material processed by the hub is recyclable material that would otherwise be treated as discards and placed in the city of trinidad landfill. Terra firma recycling assists in the preservation of the city of trinidad landfill, reduces greenhouse emissions, conserves natural resources such as timber, water, and minerals, prevents pollution by reducing the need to collect new raw material and betters are community.
terra firma educated the community, especially school aged children about the need and importance of recycling through school presentations, community activities, programs, festivals, and tours.
