Mission: To promote charitable, scientific and educational activities and to provide educational opportunities that will assist the surveying professional and assist the bureau of land management carry out its mission to protect the public land survey system.
Programs: Public lands survey system foundation, inc. (plssf) exists to conduct a wide variety of efforts for the benefit of the public lands survey system. The foundation's efforts include educational programs, printing and distributions of several documents and books, scholarships, project funding, and grants; all of which must benefit the preservation and knowledge about the public lands survey system. Currently, the foundation is engaged only in the sale of the bureau of land management (blm) publication - manual of surveying instructions - 2009 edition, and the publication entitled river and lake boundaries. In 2016 the public land survey system foundation, inc. Entered into an agreement with dennis mouland to write a new textbook entitled "21st century retracements in the public lands survey system". An initial payment was made to mr. Mouland at the signing of this agreement. When this textbook is completed and published, it will be sold by the public land survey system foundation, inc. , with the sales proceeds used to fulfill its educational mission. Mr. Mouland will receive an author's royalty for each copy sold of this new textbook.
