I started out as a volunteer with this organization about 7-8 years ago and have since joined their Board to try to help them continue their good work.

When we found a pregnant feral cat several years ago, FCHS helped connect us with a rescue group that could help us humanely trap, spay and release the mother after her kittens were weaned. They also helped us keep her healthy with annual rabies vaccines at a low cost and also provided information on appropriate ways to help feral animals survive.

Since then, we have adopted a cat from the Humane Society as well. The organization is truly committed to helping companion animals and their owners in our area. Through their programs to help injured animals, provide food and low cost vaccinations as well as provide other help to animals and their owners, this organization fills a vital role in Frederick County Maryland.

Because of the assistance our family has received as well as the fact that I know the number of animals the organization helps annually, I will continue to support them wherever possible in the future.

I can't say enough about how dedicated this group is to the welfare of animals in Frederick County.

What I like about the Frederick County Humane Society is their willingness to work with area rescues. I am a volunteer with Friends For Life Cat Rescue and they have shared their resources with us several times. Working together benefits the animals in our county.

I am a small business owner providing pet sitting and dog walking services in the Frederick area and have been working with the Frederick County Humane Society for the past couple of years. Their dedication and work ethic is beyond exceptional and in all my experiences working with them throughout several events such as “walk'n wag”, they have shown their unconditional love and passion for animals.

I began volunteering with the FCHS about 2 years ago, and although I have not been able to be too active in recent months, I can totally attest to the fact that this organization could not be a more upstanding, honest, well-run group. Each and every person who works there and volunteers there loves animals, has at least one (or more often several themselves, and are dedicated to animal welfare. Brigette Farrell works harder than I have ever seen anyone work ..... and it's all for the good of the animals .... companion animals with homes, and those unfortunate enough to be left abandoned somewhere. She is tireless in her work.
Through the enthusiasm of this wonderful organization, I was prompted to get a dog - I already have 2 kitties - and I selected a 4 year old, rescue from a puppy mill in PA. Just knowing what I did and had learned about these awful places, made me want to give one of them a home. Miss Molly has turned out to be the most precious little thing I could have ever imagined. I think she has done more for me than I have for her. From what I understand she was one day away from being shot before the rescue group in PA took her.
Yes, this group is well worth your investment ..... both time and money. You may not always see or hear of the things they do, but they are there, helping our 4-legged friends.

I want to attest to how the Humane Society helped my family out over a year ago. We adopted a stray several years ago from the shelter, and he has been a joy and comfort to all of us. As a single parent of two young children, our meager income became further strained by my battle with cancer. Then our cat got sick, and I had no resources to bring him to a vet. He was lethargic, gasping for air, and our family was desperate. I called the Humane Society to see what might be done, and they quickly sprang into action and arranged for us to see our local vet. Our cat had pneumonia; the vet gave him antibiotics and he recovered. A very simple solution and wonderful, wonderful outcome that would not have occurred but for the swift action and absolute assistance of the fine people that make up this organization. We are a family that has been blessed by their existence.

The small staff of the Frederick County Humane Society works tirelessly for the welfare of animals in Frederick County. They are to be commended for their unending efforts on behalf of animals in Frederick County. If all Humane Societies were run as well and as efficiently as Frederick's, it would go a long way towards ending animal cruelty and abuse in this country.

I think Frederick County Humane Society is a great resource for the community. From their Quick Fix for Cats in February to their Emergency Pet Medical Assistance program and Rabies/Microchip clinics, they provide support and care for needy pets here in Frederick, MD. I am proud to be a volunteer at their events! Interacting with pets and their people is fun, too.

Recentley we toured the humane society & was very impressed with the cleaniness of the pens & the animals. There was not an oder of waste just clean smell I noticed there were crates on top of each cage the cats were in & was told by Linda that was in case of fire they could remove the animals out quickly. How smart is that! Our daughter was adopting a little yorkie that day. He got a real good home & loves it. MY husband & I watch Pet Pals every week and enjoy the stories about the dogs. Very deserving of 5 stars. Thank You Bonnie Mullins
