Mission: Our mission is to form a global online community of teens devoted to improving literary skills and nurturing creative voices in the areas of poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction. We strive to build respectful, mutually beneficial, writer-editor relationships. We seek to enrich the literary lives of teens worldwide, especially those living in under-resourced communities. And we honor literary achievement by bringing attention to excellence through awards and publishing much of the extraordinary work we receive.
Results: 2020-2021 will bring our 16th Volume with a fall, winter, and spring issue being published. We're already accepting submissions and providing feedback on those submissions for our 17th Volume to be released next fall. Since our founding in 2004, Polyphony Lit has published hundreds of poems, stories, and essays; thousands of high school student editors from dozens of countries have provided feedback on over 15,000 submissions as Polyphony.
Target demographics: teenagers hoping to develop their creative voice through writing and literacy
Direct beneficiaries per year: 300 student volunteer editors and staff published three issues of our online literary magazine and provided feedback to several thousand submissions of poetry and prose writing by teenagers from around the world.
Geographic areas served: worldwide
Programs: a literary magazine exclusively publishing teenaged writers and run almost entirely by a staff of high school students.
