Causes: Arts & Culture, Dance
Mission: Our mission is to: a) create, perform, and preserve dances applying the collaborative creative methods of pilobolus dance theater; b) broaden the definition of dance for new audiences through projects of all scales in live, film and digital media characterized by the qualities of our namesake fungus - adventurous, adaptive, athletic, surprising and revealing of beauty in unexpected places; and c) teach dancers, non-dancers and organizations how to harness the creative potential of groups using pilobolus' methods.
Programs: Touring companies: pdt is the main touring company of pilobolus dance theatre. Pdt represents full-evening performances in theatres around the world and is the agent for creative collaborations and developments of new work. Pdt presented 30 performances in 13 venues around the world in fy2017. In addition, shadowland was performed 33 times and in 24 venues, and shadowland ii was performed 85 times in 44 venues around the world.
pilobolus institute: the educational arm of the organization offering a broad array of programs based on pilobolus' unique collaborative method, as well as unique programming for arts education around the country. The programs are designed for adults and children, dancers and non dancers alike.
pilobolus creative services (pcs): was formed in 1997 in response to a growing demand for first-rate movement services. Pcs encompasses pilobolus' non-touring activities.
