Mission: The philadelphia area disc alliance provides opportunities to learn, teach, and play ultimate frisbee while fostering community, character, and competition within the greater philadelphia region.
Programs: Philadelphia disc alliance (pada) ran 26 seasonal ultimatefrisbee leagues and 5 tournaments that engaged over 1600 adult playersages 16-60 in the greater philadelphia, new jersey, and delawareregions. 2017 was the first year that we ran the womens indoor winter league. We also implemented an ambassador program for our premier league.
2017 was first year for youth u17 indoor winter league. 2017 we grew yccs from (2) u20 mixed teams, to (4) total teams: u20 girls, u20 boys, u20 mixed, u17 boys. We are also prepared and positioned to host a u17 girls team in the future. 2017 was our first formal middle school league. 2017 grew to multiple phly youth u16 clinic sites (about 5), which is more than weve held in any recent past.
phuel consists of high school ultimate teams in the philadelphia area. It has existed since 1998 and hosts several tournaments every fall and spring season. Their mission is to promote youth ultimate in the greater philadelphia region.
pada is working to grow and develop its youth outreach program, calledpada yo! The pada yo! Program provides underserved children in thephiladelphia area with the opportunity to learn the sport of ultimatethrough clinics run by local ultimate players. Pada yo! Also focuses onteaching problem resolution skills and enhancing physical healththrough the challenging physical nature of ultimate. The pada yo! Program also provides free evening and weekend recreational programmingin a safe and supportive environment which encourages familyinvolvement. Parents are encouraged to come to watch or help. Theprogram specifically targets those neighborhoods where pada already hasa presence (where we play pick-up or league games). By targeting thoseneighborhoods, pada can give back to the communities in which we play.
