Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Animal Protection & Welfare, Animals, Protection of Endangered Species, Wildlife Sanctuaries

Mission: The core mission of Akashinga is wildlife conservation through direct action.

Across much of Africa, anti-poaching tactics have remained largely unchanged for decades. Small groups of undertrained and poorly equipped rangers are sent out for days on end to conduct patrols in remote and dangerous locations. Modern-day poachers have evolved and routinely utilize military tactics and equipment to kill high-target species, such as elephants, rhinos and gorillas. In the crossfire, rangers are also killed. Seeing this tragedy and need, the IAPF (now Akashinga) set out in 2009 to fill the gap.

Akashinga has a structured approach to conservation, employing the relevant tactics and technology to defend wildlife from the ever-increasing threat of poaching within protected areas. Anti-poaching, however, is only a portion of the conservation solution. To be a part of successful projects, Akashinga works alongside partners who specialize in community engagement and development, research and development, wildlife rescue and biodiversity management.

Anti-poaching protects community assets, creates jobs, promotes training and education, and reduces habitat destruction. In the many water-stressed countries of southern Africa, future generations will depend on these critical natural environments for their very wellbeing.

I've had the privilege of knowing and working with Akashinga since its inception, and I can confidently say that it is one of the most remarkable organizations I've encountered. Their commitment to female empowerment and community development is unparalleled. Akashinga's innovative community-led conservation model not only protects wildlife but also transforms the lives of the women and communities involved. By training and employing local women as rangers, they provide opportunities for economic independence and leadership, fostering a sense of pride and ownership in conservation efforts.

The impact of Akashinga on the ground is profound. The organization has successfully reduced poaching incidents and improved biodiversity in the areas they protect. Their holistic approach, which includes education, healthcare, and infrastructure development, ensures that conservation efforts benefit the entire community. Akashinga stands out not just for its environmental achievements but also for its dedication to social progress, proving that effective conservation and community upliftment can go hand in hand.

Akashinga is an incredible organization not only focused on wildlife conservation, but also doing so through the empowerment of women. I learned about Akashinga a few years ago, and was truly moved by the nonprofit's training program for its female rangers and how intricately they work together with the communities they serve to help endangered animals. I've had the opportunity to listen to people like Sergeant Hoto share her personal story, in addition to the hands on work the rangers do every day. The Akashinga community is a leading example of what proper wildlife conservation can look like and be like throughout the world. I am grateful to be a supporter of Akashinga!

I'm pleased to write a review for Akashinga.
This extraordinary group of women have an innovative approach to conservation. It involves community buy-in rather than full-on armed assault against poachers. They operate on a simple principle: If a community understands the economic benefits of preserving animals, then it will eliminate poaching without an armed struggle. I have been sponsoring Akashinga for years via monthly donations and I will continue to do so while they operate under this model. They operate in Zimbabwe and the initiative was founded by former Australian special forces soldier and anti-poaching leader Damien Mander. They are a women-only team of rangers, drawn from the abused and marginalized parts of society.
I understand also that they are predominately plant-based, further embracing general "harm-reduction" ideals and maintaining more consistency around the principle of compassion.
I hope these women are, and the model that they operate under is, recognised for future anti-poaching initiatives, and I hope they are recognised for the top rating list.

Thank you.

Incredible and integral organization that unites uplifting the community, women and children with protection of wildlife and the environment at large. Once I started donating to this important Foundation, I receive regular emails updating me on their current work. I am very concerned about poachers killing endangered animals in Africa and it is so wonderful to know that the IAPF is achieving great results.
The other important factor of IAPF is the women they train, then employ to do this work. These women are often living in dire circumstances, trying to survive. so their employment gives them an independent income, respect and a community to be part of.
Their training is incredibly difficult, but they know that if they succeed, their lives and that of their children will be so much better - good for the animals, good for them!

The community outreach they do in the areas where they operate is pretty next-level. By working directly with local people and giving them jobs protecting animals in their own regions from pouching, they are accomplishing multiple things at once.

I've had a lifelong sensitivity to the plight of the animals we share this planet with. My grandfather was a hunter and trapper and I spent a great deal of time with him as a youngster. Time in the bush with him in part meant witnessing first hand what animals go through because of our actions. This valuable lesson has always stayed with me and engendered a sincere desire to at some point give back to those entirely innocent and vulnerable species which try to survive in our midst.
A few years ago this motivation inspired me to search for organizations that were walking the walk and not just talking the talk. This search led me to discover the IAPF. The story of it's founding and the approach they are taking to conservation and the running of the organization seemed to me to be overwhelmingly unique. Integrity and clarity of purpose are very clearly hallmarks of this organization. They spend the money they bring in on the front lines of the struggle in which they are engaged. They protect those animals most in need while at the same time strengthening local communities through their hiring of front line female rangers. It's a brilliant approach and deserves our support.
In a world rife with so much corruption and malfeasance it's extremely heartening to find an organization whose sole mission is to do the right thing for the most vulnerable creatures on the planet .
There is an old Vedic saying that goes something like: "When something is the truth the whole universe stands up and declares it to be the truth" such is my perception of the integrity and authenticity of the men and woman at the IAPF.
I hope these words encourage those that can to contribute to the IAPF's cause of holding the line in the battle against extinction for some of the worlds most beautiful and intelligent creatures.

Animals have little room to thrive. What room they have, leaves them dealing with trophy hunters or poachers. IAPF not only takes this horrific problem on-They train women in the community to be fighters and protectors of the animals. They train dogs to sniff out poachers. Damien and his team constantly work to discover new ways to educate the public, their staff and people who once were poachers themselves, as they saw it as their only means of support IAPF works to show there is more value having these animals alive then not. Not only financially but also understanding our world would be a much less vibrant planet without them. There are many endless struggles to protect our lovely flora and fauna. IAPF is tantamount in helping to protect our big animals. It is an endless, often difficult, dangerous and thankless task to protect these beautiful animals that are endangered. This is a necessary organization.
I donate what I can as a retired women. Please help IAPF thrive so they can help animals thrive.

I have been a supporter of the IAPF since I saw a bit on '20/20' and a number of articles online as long ago as 2006. I was impressed with Damien's vision and drive to see success in the Rhino and Elephant Wars. I believe that the sort of creativity the IAPF espouses in the approach to conservation is a model which should be followed by other nonprofits engaged in the preservation of nature. Engagement with the wider conservation community in the pursuit of creative and novel approaches to conservation remains at the fore of the IAPF's approach to conservation in pursuit of a wider and concerted anti-poaching effort across Africa. When selecting worthy causes and the organizations which serve them, the IAPF should be at the very top of every donor's mind. We are responsible for the conditions under which our world's flora and fauna presently subsist, and so we should find ourselves compelled by the moral imperative to preserve what remains in our wake - and the International Anti-Poaching Federation (IAPF) does precisely that.

Damien Mander, the founder of IAPF, is an inspirational person who has grown the IAPF into an organisation that gets 'down and dirty' in its fight against poaching. Even more inspiring is the voice he is giving, not only to the beleaguered animals of Africa, but also to the local women in training them to be elite rangers. He is paving the way to a (hopefully) more compassionate and thoughtful world. This is an individual whose growing organisation needs all the support they can get in trying to preserve native animals from the ignorance, greed and/or stupidity of those 'human animals' that would have your believe that Rhino horn or Elephant tusks have some 'magical' power and need to be 'harvested' to satisfy the demand of (typically) Asian markets. Human cruelty to animals is well documented and widely ignored by most with the convenience of being several steps away from the slaughter. The IAPF are right in there, with the rangers risking their own lives to save those of the voiceless. THEY NEED TO BE SUPPORTED!

IAPF has been quite innovative in their approach to poaching. Back when it started I doubted whether it had a chance but I was proven wrong.
The Foundation has made leap and strides in combating poaching and at the same time has taken an initiative to help empower and employ women to fulfill the role of guardians of the animals that need help or watching over whilst fighting criminal elements.

They also have a very successful track record and as a Foundation, they are completely transparent with where the donations get used and how.

Personally I like to hear the success stories of the people, men and women involved in the fight against poaching. I am a donor and I am proud to be one

IAPF is what every single nonprofit should be. Immense dedication, and at times, at great risk to themselves, a worthy and ABSOLUTELY necessary and critical mission, and nearly 100 percent of funds going directly to the mission. The founder is driven and dedicated, hands on and beyond reproach. IAPF is always my first recipient of donations. I wish I had far greater means!

I first learned about IAPF from the interview with Damien Mander in the film "The Game Changers." His words moved me. In fact, that interview was the segment in the film that inspired me most and truly touched my soul. I immediately became a top fan of IAPF and their ground-breaking model to protect the planet's precious and vulnerable species in Africa. Since that time, I have donated whenever I have had the means to do so. I have interacted with their team via email and felt welcomed and very appreciated as a supporter. They have a fantastic team and are doing crucial work! I wish everyone on the planet who had a few extra dollars would donate to this fine organization which is preserving and protecting species we all love so dearly. At the same time, IAPF is providing training and employment to deserving and amazing women in Africa. IAPF gives these women the opportunity to demonstrate to the world just how strong, compassionate and courageous they are. We all owe them a debt of gratitude.

I first heard about this group watching "The Game Changers." I love them. I ESPECIALLY love Akashinga, for two main reasons. First, they protect endangered (all, really) animals in a legal fashion. Second, they promote the welfare of local women, which, as all experts on the environment, global warming, and humanitarianism in general have noted, is one of the single most important developments that the world can make to improve the quality of life on earth, and not just for humans. So, it is a win-win scenario. I seldom use buzz-words, but THIS is synergy! Support these people!

I have donated money to the brave "Akashinga" girls (operated by the IAPF) four times already.
These girls protect the wild animals in Africa from poachers. And they do it with a freakin gun in their hands. These tough girls risk their lifes every day in the bush. Because they get paid by the IAPF, their otherwise low social status within their local communities increases which means that they get bullied less in their patriarchal environment. So I am not only supporting the last wild animals in Africa, I am also supporting the people there.
Other people just send money to Africa to feed the ever growing population there.
This is so much better. Go Akashinga!

Sincere thanks to all the staff of IAPF. They do GIVE so much to protect, save, help, feed, take care, rise, our wonderful brothers, the WILD ANIMALS. The founder of IAPF could not accept that every eight hours a rhino is killed. And he his giving is life to protect these wonderful and pacific animals. Working in my office, in Switzerland, what else than helping IAPF with money, can I do from my country. THEY do the job and I have a great admiration for all of them.

Amazing cause. Helping bring back animals on the verge of extinction to more healthy population numbers. Poaching has dramatically decimated elephant, lion, rhino, and many other populations. We need to stop this mentality of letting people kill them to make money for the tribes. This is not the way it should be. Also love that they are all women so the corruption aspect is much lower than if they were men.

I've been following the IAPF for years after watching the founder, Damien Mander, share his story in a TED talk. The work this organization is doing to save our planet's wildlife from extinction is admirable, inspiring and actually gives this animal-lover hope. Not only are they making a significant impact on the rhino and elephant populations in Africa, they are providing meaningful employment to the incredible women, the Akashinga, they recruit to do the work in the field.

I hosted a fundraiser for the IAPF in 2018 and had the opportunity to meet and host Damien during his time in California to raise awareness and funds. He is the real deal. The IAPF is a wonderful charity that works to protect threatened wildlife in Africa like rhinos and elephants. It's founder, Damien Mander is a former Australian special forces sniper veteran of the recent war in Iraq and a former instructor of Iraqi security forces. He now uses his unique expertise to train conservation rangers in Africa. The flagship of the IAPF is Akashinga ( "The Brave Ones"), a group of courageous women who work with Damien to build up local communities and patrol areas where poachers and trophy hunters are known to operate. Through these tactics, Damien and Akashinga are working to help ensure that magestic animals like rhinos and elephants never vanish from the wild.

Last year, I had the privilege of hosting a benefit event for the IAPF where funds were raised to support this great cause and awareness was raised for the outstanding conversation efforts of the IAPF and why their work is so important. I thoroughly enjoyed working on this event with the IAPF and I look forward to being able to do more to assist them in the future. Actions speak louder than words. IAPF is an organization driven from the heart, with presence in Zimbabwe and scaling elsewhere in Africa, including SA, Kenya, and Mozambique.

I had the opportunity to meet Kelly (US Director), Vimbai (Lead Ranger in Zimbabwe), and Damien (Founder) at a fundraiser event, and saw firsthand how they work together and support one another as a team. They shared their very different life stories and how they have come together to rally around common conservation goals to protect endangered and highly trafficked animals. This is being achieved with significant impact in the region.

Their all-female team of rangers (named Akashinga or “The Brave Ones”) are effective, community-driven and are accomplishing anti-poaching objectives from an empowered set of tactics and principles. I am a monthly supporter and encourage others to be the same. If you have the chance to attend an IAPF event, Kelly, Vimbai and Damien are accessible, thoughtful and kind. Godspeed in Africa, IAPF. IAPF won my heart and my trust in a very short time. I saw and still see proof of what they are accomplishing. Saving and protecting animals while empowering women and the community. Their model is working by engaging the people with their environment and teaching and training them how to keep the model moving forward. There is more conversations and understanding and education about a more sustainable way of living. Instead of anger and conflict that could be deadly, for both humans and animals. I have seen the proof. Damien is the real deal, he walks the walk not just talks the talk. He is humble and straightforward. I have seen Vimbai, a Ranger who had basically no self esteem become a dignified, soft spoken ,yet powerful force for change. I absolutely love how she holds her head up high and has a "proud" and confident presence about her. I have been involved with a lot of non-profit organizations ( through hands on volunteering and reading and watching which ones are legit and stick around ( since the 1980's), and I have seen and heard a lot of what can go wrong. I have learned that you can not simply say to residents "stop poaching". because that is their way of life and what they know. However, Damien has been very successful at forming a sustainable model which gives an alternative way to survive, through training rangers( he has extensive and impressive qualifications to do this.) Empowering women, saving animals and working with the community, not against them. I feel proud to have learned about and to be connected to something that encompasses my beliefs and morals. Honestly, It gives me hope. Being involved with animal advocacy for many years can bring me down and feeling helpless. I see accomplishments with IAPF. Also, This Organization is based in Africa, but it has connections that include the whole world.

I found out about this non-profit through a dear family friend and as a long time believer in the importance actively protecting endangered species, I was excited to learn more. I showed up at the event, relatively uninformed, and can honestly say that I have rarely been as moved as I was that evening. I was particularly impressed with the multi-faceted impact that IAPF has on the community. I donate money to women's empowerment efforts and I donate money to nonprofits that aim to protect and save endangered species, so to be able to donate money to an organization that supports both of my favorite causes feels good. It is also good to see how women's empowerment is really an effective way to lift a community up and on top of that - IT IS EFFECTIVE. These women help to save the lives of so many animals. It is the definition of a virtuous cycle. On top of that, everyone that works with IAPF is passionate about the cause, including the donors/supporters - it is wonderful to see such high engagement. The final point which impressed me, which is more around process and administration, is that from my perspective they are operating on a shoestring budget and mindful of how the expenses of fundraising should be dwarfed by what is spent on the cause. I believe that the people running the organization are great stewards of the funds raised, which is the icing on the cake.

I saw the story 5 years ago, and was so inspired and angry about what was happening with poaching; I signed up to volunteer. In 2013 I spent one month at the IAPF and got to see their work and dedication first hand. Twice a day, morning and night, I went out on patrols with the IAPF Rangers, who are so passionate about conserving and saving their wildlife. We walked slowly through the bush, looking for any signs of footprints, snares, someone trying to cut fencing or any signs of intruders in the park. During rests, the Rangers would teach me about African wildlife and what this means for them to be doing this job. It is not a job for them but an honour and a privilege. I was taken to see the Rhinos they are protecting, sighted giraffes, elephants, antelope and even a painted dog during my stay.

Damien Mander and his group of dedicated, tenacious, hard working team of rangers set an example for all of us. Their belief and unwavering commitment to the protection of wildlife is a shining example of what can be achieved when people work together.
I met Damien when he first arrived in Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe and where his small idea grew into a highly respected international charity.
Damien has changed everything about the way he lives and works to the betterment of animals everywhere.
He trains and equips rangers to carry out dangerous tasks in difficult situations. He fills them with his enthusiasm and passion knowing that he can rely on them to protect all species, not just those that are endangered by the greed of fellow humans.
He has researched and searched for answers to the never ending cycle of poaching and it is a tough problem to solve.
The IAPF team are some of the best trained and equipped rangers and we all need to help him and them to continue to provide a service to stop these illegal activities.
There is never enough that we, who sit in air conditioned offices and dream of seeing elephants wandering the plains of Africa, can do to help Damien and the IAPF.
The IAPF's Akashinga team, in June, successfully caught two poachers who have been eluding police for a number is years. This is a team of female rangers who completed training in October 2017. Just another example of how effective the IAPF has been in empowering men and women in Zimbabwe to protect the wildlife for the benefit of their communities and the rest of the world.

The IAPF changed my life. The careful, intelligent work of Damien Mander and his rangers in southern Africa has successfully stemmed the tide of poaching in the areas they have targeted. Against the odds, the IAPF have found a way to hold the line between poaching syndicates and some of the world's most vulnerable animals and in doing so showed me that conservation needs to be highly strategic for it to be successful. As the spokesperson for IAPF, Damien represents a team of highly skilled and committed African rangers who risk their lives to protect wildlife beloved to us all. He takes the time to speak with people from all sectors of society, including school students. As a vegan, Damien demonstrated that it's within my power to save animals on a daily basis without even leaving my house and I am proudly following in his footsteps in that regard. He's been a great mentor, showing me how much difference one Australian can make in conservation if they are really willing to give it a go. I'm proud of him. Not only do they train and support rangers to know how to locate the poachers and prevent attacks on Rhinos, they also provide financial aid to the families of rangers who are hurt in the line of duty. They are soldiers fighting a very real war and need all the support they can get. I don't want my children losing their most loved animal on the earth.
Hearing Damian Mander speak in Adelaide recently has increased my passion for animal conservation. I can't speak highly enough about Damien and the IAPF.

A few years ago i volunteered in Zimbabwe for a month because i wanted to have extra "boots on the ground" and assist anyway i could against poaching of our beautiful wildlife . It was such an amazing rewarding experience to see real front line conservation in action with committed compassionate rangers. I still continue to donate regularly and promote IAPF whenever i can. Will i go back? You bet!! I recommend it to anyone. You may be one person - but you can make a Difference. Thanks Damien x :)

I've followed and donated to the IAPF for about two years now. These days it seems everything just gets worse for animals, especially endangered ones. It can feel like you can't make a difference. So to find an organization making a demonstrable difference to actually reduce the horror in the first place is fantastic! Fully support these guys. Long may they range!!

In Sept 2016, I volunteered with IAPF in Zimbabwe for 3 weeks and it was a life changing experience! The organisation FAR EXCEEDED my expectations, the work we did was AMAZING and had a genuine impact on the survival of a species, it was so special to be part of something MUCH BIGGER than me. IAPF looked after me when I got sick there, and were extra aware of my when I was the only female at camp. The skills and theory we learnt while there is second to none, my experience with IAPF will stay with me forever and I share it with as many people as possible and promote IAPF any chance I get. Thankyou Damien and the team for changing my life!!!!

I have been lucky enough to experience the Green Army program and have seen first hand the work that the IAPF are doing. I am proud to be a continued ongoing supporter, and can't wait to see everyone involved continue to go from strength to strength. The IAPF are not sourcing a quick fix to a problem, they are setting long term goals that are both sustainable (by means of training leaders) and strategic to ensure the survival of wildlife.

I have been supporting the work of the IAPF through regular donations over the course of the past 3 years, and will continue to do so.

I originally discovered the incredible work Damien Mander and his team have been doing through a familiar animal rights charity in Australia back in 2013.

As well as building and maintaining the operations in Africa; Damien travels across the globe in order to raise further awareness for the cause. IAPF is transparent with sharing the results they have accomplished in reducing poaching of endangered Rhinos in key areas.

Myself and other donors can rest assured knowing that the vast majority of the funds donated will go to fight the cause directly, and what an important cause it is.

Over many years the IAPF has continued to evolve and grow. Their successes are a shining example to what can be achieved with commitment and good old fashioned hard work. This doesn't come cheap and it relies on each and everyone of us to make monetary donations to maintain its momentum.
Damien has the tenacity to carry on, despite or in spite of the odds, he and his team need our help.

IAPF with Damien Mander
seriously committed is an understatement.....hard work right from the front line field to research and active education and securing funding.... these people never rest and are highly trained and highly committed to empowering and enabling local communities to support and protect, wildlife, habit and culture with an ethical approach of care and preservation. Damien and his team are an inspiration that has created pure and honorable dedication... we are proud of him as an Aussie and we are extremely proud that he has chosen to further his career by dedicating it to vulnerable species that face extinction at a rapid rate. He and his team have successfully joined the ranks of numerous teams and networks and this working together is seeing a greater and strengthened force in combating illegal poaching with skilled anti-poaching, and rescuing and rehabilitating injured and orphaned wildlife. This years rhino poaching stats are enough evidence that we just cant have enough of all of what these people do and we hope for this to continue and grow further.

I spent Sept 2017 with the team in Zimbabwe. I signed up cause I always wanted to spend time in the African bush but wanted to help with conservation and not just go on a safari. I had no idea what to expect when I signed up but was incredibly happy I did. The team on the ground was incredibly accommodating and well educated. The accommodations were perfect for the bush and the food was good! Our daily patrols were full of constant learning, tracking, trailing, camouflage, animal habits, diet, poaching techniques etc.
It was by far the best group I have worked with and hope to return in the future.

I met Damien Mander a few years back when I was really just interested in learning more about Africa and the organizations that were supporting the community there, and of course those protecting wildlife. There are no words to describe how impressive, benevolent and determined this man is in his efforts to protect our world's most vulnerable wildlife. I quickly realized that Damien and his organization, the International Anti-Poaching Foundation, are the real deal and I have been happily supporting him/it ever since. It has been an honor to serve as a an unofficial ambassador, and from what I can see, the level of interest and followers is only growing stronger. In fact, a group of friends and I are geared up to volunteer at the IAPF camp in Zimbabwe this September 2017! I volunteer, fundraise and support many important causes, but the International Anti-Poaching Foundation has risen to the very top of my list. It is worth supporting and I will be doing so until the very last Rhino is safe. -- Kelly Vitko

These rangers are fighting on the front line in the war against extinction. I have seen their work first hand, in the depths of Africa. They are responsible for the continued survival of so many species within the National Parks in which they operate, including Rhinos and many others that are on the very edge of existence. Conservation of critically endangered species cannot occur without the protection of those that remain in the wild. These men and women put their lives on the line, to achieve this.

I found out about IAPF through a conference talk by Damien Mander, a man with a great heart who decided to dedicate his life to fight poachers in the African bush. He is on the frontline of these life threatening operations and he has all of my admiration for the fantastic work he and his team are doing.

Biodiversity is suffereing from humans and climate change. We (humans) are plagued with greed and selfishness and there are the small percentage who care. Those that put their life on the line every day to help those who cannot defend themselves from our ruin.
IAPF is run by passion, dedication and honesty. They tirelessly are fighting a war against poaching to secure habitats and species for our future generations can enjoy.
We all need to collectively work together to sustain the future of the planet.

This is an incredible organization that is working to protect rhinos from poaching and extinction. Heartless humans kill these majestic creatures just for their horns, often leaving the rhino babies to die in the wild. Sadly, because there is profit to be made, poachers have even broken into zoos to kill and still the rhino horns.

Fortunately, IAPF is doing great work to advance protecting the rhinos, but the work is very dangerous, sometimes costing Rangers their lives. The rugged terrain also adds more challenges to their already overwhelming task, but fortunately they have been able to raise enough money to obtain some equipment to help navigate and transport them to areas of immediate threat.

With so many challenges facing the creatures in the world today, it is wonderful to know this organization exists and is doing this tough job.

For anyone who is able and willing to financially help IAPF, your generosity will enable them to carry on their work, and help the rhinos live in a safer environment.

IAPF provides world class training and support to anti-poaching Rangers. These folks have a great reputation in the Tracking and Conservation communities, and are very transparent about their successes and challenges. They are on the front line of conservation in some very remote places. They are worthy of any help you can give.

I have supported a variety of non profits and like to make sure my donations make a difference. Two things that really strike me about the IAPF is the level of transparency, and the no-frills, direct action approach. Damien Mander lives what he believes and his personal commitment and sacrifices - although I'm sure he wouldn't describe them as that - are inspirational. IAPF has a very clear focus on rhinos and this is because they are the hardest to protect - if the land is safe for rhinos, other species flourish too. The other thing about IAPF that appeals to me is the recognition, via training, equipping and accrediting, they give to the local rangers who put their lives on the line every day to protect these animals for all our benefit. Those guys on the front line are doing a mighty job against enormous odds. We should all pitch in and help however we can.

I volunteered with IAPF in 2014 in Zimbabwe and have great respect for what they do and the incredible support they give to the rangers that protect the animals in the park. There is no frills and the money they raise goes for much needed equipment for patrolling and monitoring the park to keep out poachers. There were no poaching incidents while I was there and that is mostly because no poacher will take on the IAPF - they will go elsewhere. They also have a park they protect in Mozambique, but I was told it was too dangerous there to have volunteers. In addition to protecting the wildlife in the park, they help locals who are having conflicts with wildlife and they train and network with other anti-poaching professionals as well.

After watching the Ted Talks I was deeply moved, inspired and called to action to help such a great Vegan warrior. There are few in this world that step up to be in action for others, even fewer for animals, even fewer who put their life on the line such as this great soul. IAPF IS making a difference in our world. I am honored to be a donor to empower such a truly VITAL organization and man. You inspire me and my work.

I've personally connected with Damien and several members of his team. I've had a chance to drill down through their operation. The results they are achieving are outstanding and far exceed those of any group or government agency. Thousands of rhinos and elephants are killed illegally every year. Stopping poaching not only protects these incredible animals it also protects the entire ecosystem of which large non-human animals are an integral component. I, without hesitation, urge you to support their efforts by any means possible.

As a professional who works each day on African conservation, I know first hand the severe threats faced by African wildlife and habitats. Global criminal networks profit from illegally slaughtering keystone species like rhinos, elephants, and lions in unsustainable numbers. Without committed, well trained, and courageous anti-poaching rangers who place themselves in harm's way on a daily basis, these animals will disappear before our eyes. This is where an organization like the International Anti-Poaching Foundation steps into the void to make all the difference in biodiverse and critically-threatened African ecosystems. IAPF's direct action approach, combined with ranger training and education, in countries like Zimbabwe and Mozambique has generated profoundly impactful results. This small organization does a lot with a little for the benefit of all. Please consider supporting them.
