Mission: Phan is a statewide consumer-driven organization working to expand and protect access to high-quality, equitable, affordable healthcare for all pennsylvanians. Phan facilitates discussion of health equity, reaching vulnerable populations in rural and underserved communities.
Programs: Outreach, education and enrollment - phans team of community engagement specialists helps people get their questions about health insurance answered; walks them through the process of enrolling, re-enrolling, or troubleshooting problems; and works with new enrollees to become more active, engaged consumers of healthcare. Phan serviced 61 out of 67 counties in pennsylvania. Phans statewide helpline received over 11,000 calls per year and connected over 8,500 individuals to healthcare coverage.
advocacy - through direct consumer assistance, education, and grassroots community organizing, phan meets people where they are, engages them in action, and builds a movement toward a better healthcare system.
